Move Beason, one of the best MLB's in the league, Really... This fan base has no loyalty at all. Yes Beason is coming off an injury, but he's still one of the best at MLB (ILB). Moving him makes no sense to me. I'd be more worried about Davis than I would Beason. Kuechly will rotate with different packages, but Beason is our starting MLB.

It's a bit over dramatic to pin our fan base for having no loyalty. The reality is we just drafted a middle linebacker 9th overall. We can't sit here and pretend it's not happening. It is. We didn't create this situation we are just reacting to it.

The reality is that we drafted a MLB to play OLB. Jon Beason is the Carolina Panthers starting MLB, no drama needed.

If the season started today Beason wouldn't be a starter let alone show the form of old. No one is being disloyal we are just looking at the situation and waiting to see how well Beason rehabs. He has time but we will begin OTA in a few weeks and training camp is 2 months away. We need to see how things proceed before we can definitive say who the starter in the middle will be.

I hope that they keep Beason at MLB. Whoever plays outside is going to be responsible for covering the TE and with Beason's injury he's going to lose some speed. Kuechly will be able to cover the TE and be the sideline to sideline player better than Beason until he gets back to 100%.

Not reading three pages.

Luke starts out on the outside, but will eventually move to MLB in a couple years as Beason becomes a "vet" and Luke is the new "captain". Beason will always be our Ray Lewis, but he's man enough to let someone younger and better (assuming Luke is) take the reins.

I think it's important to remember how Jon Beason came into the league. Jon came in and was a MLB at Miami. Dan Morgan was "healthy" so we played Beason outside. Once Dan showed that he couldn't hold up, we moved Beason inside. I think this is the likely case here, and Beason has to understand that his role is now reversed. I think if Jon proves that he can handle the responsibility of the middle after coming back from such a devastating injury, then he will stay there. If not, we have Kuechly. Even if Jon doesn't have the range to play the middle this season, he is still the leader of the defense when he is healthy. There is no questioning that.

Jim Johnson's 4-3 often asks the WLB to drop into coverage anyway, so Kuechly will fit the bill in this scenario. Not that we have to stick to the traditional JJ defense, but that is often what he asked of his WLB.

We drafted Kuechly to extend Davis' and Beason's careers. The important thing is that they play when 100%, not be relied on to come in and play ASAP, like we did with Beason last year (still SMH we let him come back so soon). Kuechly is going to bring stability to a position, and allow us to keep our other linebackers off the field until they are ready.

I love Beaston as he is my favorite Panther. i think he is best at MLB...however getting a 4-3 linebacker in Kuechly who is 6'4 will make things tough for any QB scanning the middle of the field.

Beason covers well but is hampered by his size: he does not make too many qbs adjust throws. Qbs would now have to lob passes over the middle with a bigger Lber who has great ball skills...or as Mayock say: " The best coverage Lber i ever evaluated!"

Sadly my heart says beason stays at MLB but head says Kuechly to the middle.

It still has to play out and I wouldnt hate it if Beason could resume the middle....as he is still Beaston.

I am assuming Davis is relegated to a pass rush role or matchup start..the Joker! Like he was.

Loyalty is overated when it comes to building a football team.

If Beason is 80-90% in 2012.....Luke should be MLB most likely. If Beason is his old self then he keeps it. But if Luke sees the position for significant time....Beason IMO likely will never see it again.

Everyone loves Beason bc he has been our guy.

When people get to know Luke....they will just want the best man on the field

    • Apparently the extension he signed before the season was also a little weird, as it had a very low signing bonus. So the Jets have a very small dead cap hit despite trading a big contract that was signed just 2 months ago. I guess it was only a $13 million signing bonus, and trading him mid-season means it's something around only a $10 million dead cap hit left to take. This is a huge win for the Jets for a player I've long felt was overrated because of a great nickname and an amazing rookie season that he's then failed to fully live up to since them.  Combine that with everyone knowing the Colts seem more mirage then legit long term contender, that 2027 1st in particular could end up being a really good asset for the Jets.
    • Steichen has the offense operating at a super high efficiency with JT/Pittman/Warren/Downs.  The OL is strong. The D - the front 7 has been sneaky good.  They don't instill much fear but do enough.  Buckner is stil playing at a high level.  It's a good system on both sides of the ball.  Blue chip players now at every position group.   Overall, the NFL is wide open right now. Seahawks, Colts, Patriots, Rams, & Bills are at the top of the mid-season hill - which is just wild Lions, Bucs, Broncos, Chargers* are in contention/okay spots (LAC is losing guys left and right though) Chiefs, Philly still linger, you can never discount. Steelers, 49ers are around as always.
