A Question From An Italian Fan

I also went to that game with my lady, my mom, and my moms boyfriend (they live in AZ, we flew in for the game). I am surprised you had problems. I tailgated on the great lawn with several people from the huddle (PanthaSan, Mrs. PanthaSan, jayflip, dude with the smoking hot wife who's name I can't recall right now, and many others) and we actually had a ton of AZ fans come up and talk to us or ask for pictures with us, etc. When inside the game, the row of guys behind us were rowdy at first (like 7 of them who all looked like college wrestlers or something), but they ended up being cool and talking poo in a banter sort of way with me all game. No incidents in the bathroom or walking through the concourse or anything. Great experience all around, and I'll be doing it again this year when we play San Diego.

Really? I sat right by Panthasan actually he took a photo of me and my girl before the game. It was mostly just this group of guys by me, but did you see the fight afterwords? One of the most classless things I've ever seen at a sporting event.

I'll be in San Diego too man, should be a blast. I think I get more poo during games because I'm a younger white guy, and I usually roll with my small blonde girlfriend.

I went to the opener of the great  2010 season in NY with my wife - the first game in the new Meadowlands Stadium. I received some comments about my teal 89 jersey already in Manhattan cause they also had a Steve Smith that time, but it was all fun, people were cool and I made sure to let everyone know that we had the REAL Steve Smith. Then we went to get the bus from Manhattan to stadium in NJ. The bus was completely packed with Giants fans. We were the last two persons to get on the bus nad the only non Giants fans. Now THAT was a great experience  . We swallowed all the comments although 80% of them werde more fun than rude. We talked to Giants fans on our way to the stadium, everything was fine. Later in the stadium there was only one drunken idiot who barked at me the whole time during the game, but all the other GMen around us were respectful and great. It was a perfect day (except the loss) and I would do it again.

But I would never do the same in Philly and Oakland - despite all the love I have for my team.

BTW: I am from Germany, a die hard Panthers fan since 1997 (since my first of many stays in NC). I attend a lot of soccer games here and it is truly amazing how peaceful and safe it is to attend an NFL game being an Away-Fan. Mentioning I am from Germany, we even have a Panthers Fanclub here, so there are quite some Carolina fans in Europe.

Go Panthers!

Considering the stereotypes thrown out about the OP being Italian (therefore he must be a gangster and itching for a fight/murder) I have to wonder if the fans around here have any more class that the Philly fans.

Way to welcome a new and international member to the board. Its crap like that that is the reason nearly every discussion here is between the same handful of members, or otherwise trolls.

I doubt many here have crossed a state border much less ever visited another country.

I have to hand it to Atlanta fans, at least the ones I've encountered and who have encountered me when I went to the GA Dome for games. When I was still living in Auburn in '10 I went with my then-gf to a game wearing my blue Stewart jersey and hat and Falcons fans were pretty chill. We talked poo here and there but it was all in fun. I asked one woman, "what if we picked Cam Newton?" and she said "NO. That would be awful. I don't want to see him beat us."

Too bad :D

*****DO NOT WEAR YOUR PANTHER COLORS IN PHILLY***** Those people are classless nutcases.

Don't listen to this REDSKINS fan... seriously....nothing more annoying than Redskins fans from NC...

Why do you post here? So you wouldn't wear a Redskins jersey in Philly? Really? It's funny grown adults are scared to wear their team colors in Philly... glad you're not a Panthers fan.

I've been to Philly, for a Panthers game AND Blue Jays vs Phillies

I wore my Panthers jersey back at the 2004 NFC title game in Philly and my JOE f'n CARTER jersey in the nosebleeds at the Bank in Philly...everyone around me was actually pretty respectful and all the jabs were in good fun...and the Jays swept them and Panthers...well we know what happened in that game... : )

Just don't be obnoxious, and you will be fine.

BE PROUD AND REP OUR PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!

So awesome that you're a Panthers fan in Italia!!!! : )

LOL.........judging by this thread you would think the Philly home games are played on Riker's Island. It is quite obvious Panthersphan is the only one who has ever been to a game there. Wear your Panthers jersey and nothing will happen......it isn't the 700 level of Veterans Stadium anymore.

There was a guy on this board who went to our game against Oakland in 2008 decked out in Panthers gear. I think he even put together a sort of small photo journal of his trip.

I remember a few of the pictures were of what looked like thousands of completely empty upper deck seats covered in seagulls. A few people talked trash and got in his face but the overall tone of it struck me as more pathetic and depressing than menacing.

HOLY SH*T. The Huddle, supposed to be full of the best Panther fans around, is encouraging NOT wearing Panthers' gear to an away game? F*K the A HOLES in Philly, represent your team. This is why we get punked when teams like the Eagles and the Steelers come to Carolina. You act like a bunch of GOD DAMN 9 YEAR OLD GIRLS SOMETIMES. Fine, why don't one of you guys send him a warm sweater and I nice Chianti he can tailgate with.

What your saying is you would renounce the Panthers under threat of a beer (which the stupid philly fan probably paid 8 bucks for) being poured on your head? How many times do I have to call you fatty before I get your lunch money?

Being poured on my head is not so bad. Being hit in the head with it, well I could do without that. :)

    • It's also worth noting that Cam himself said that he felt safer when running vs. sitting in the pocket because he could see the contact coming and could better prepare for it. A QB running the ball doesn't have to be a sledgehammer. He just has to be effective.
    • That Falcons game is about as good as it gets. Especially on the road. I know the Falcons defense was bad but he was cooking with Coker, an undrafted rookie get the bulk of the receptions. If your QB has 5 TDs and 0 turnovers he is playing like a top QB, yardage be damned. The big question for me is how consistently can be play the whole season?  I don’t expect a game like that every week, but I also don’t want to see any performances like the pre benching or that Cowboys game (which was bad post benching). Bryce’s best shot at being the guy is becoming a mini-Burrow who is about as consistent as you can get at the QB position.  The good news is this QB class should be a fun one. So hopefully Bryce becomes the guy, if not it’s a nice class to let DC pick his QB and they should come into a great situation with a good OL, RB, young talented WRs etc…
    • Bryce Young is far less risky with his body when he runs than Richardson and doesn’t take many unnecessary big hits. Was much more worried about injury when he had that abysmal OL his rookie season than I ever would be when he runs/scrambles. 500/10 seems like a fairly reasonable prediction considering he had 250/6 in 12 starts last season. Of course literally anybody CAN get hurt, it’s just that we were assured by many huddlers that it was a sure thing with Bryce Young that he wouldn’t make it to this point in his career without significant injuries.
