Why Do Some Of You Guys Still Have Doubts About Brandon Lafell?

The guy proved what he can do last year & was clutch at the end of Games so I don't really know why some of you are saying(espn also) saying we got no wrs other then Smitty cause its BS and I expect a big year out of Brandon & Gettis too for that matter.

because we haven't seen it. we've seen flashes (and i consider all of last year a flash potentially...see keary colbert) but so far caution is the flavor of the day in regards to WRs in carolina.

in the last 10-12 years how many solid WRs have we seen come up through the ranks here?

i think most hopes he works out but until we've seen continued success (for more than a year) most aren't believers.

Our WR corps is in doubt because these guys are people who arnt household names. If you're not an avid fan of Carolina or of any NFC south team, you probably won't know who LaFell is.

Once we have our prime time games, people and the media will come around an realize how good our offense really is.

I have doubts because he hasn't sustained a high level of play at the position. Last year he was good when he was getting targeted but he spent a good portion of the year sitting behind Leganono. He has potential, I doubt anyone would debate that. But anyone who looks at it logically would have doubts about his ability to string together multiple good seasons simply because he hasn't.

I suppose you could demand that everyone be an optimist / give him the benefit of the doubt / assume he will be able to...but this is the NFL. There are more guys who can't than those who can...so my default position is assuming they can't until I'm proven wrong.

If anything, the reason why he couldn't unseat Legadu last season is because he didn't know the playbook.. I think we all see that it might take LaFell a little longer than average to learn a playbook. I think he has all the athletic ability to become a very good WR. That said, I think Gettis has more athletic ability, and smarts, to become a #1 WR.

    • i presented this in another thread. he throws better to the out breaking routes the wr run, but almost nothing to the inside. that is half the options on a wr route tree. How do you run an offense like that?  even the outbreaking routes he throws are moonballs, that allow the DBs to catch up unless the wr is wide open. he has to throw with a lot of anticipation becuase he doesnt have the arm strenght to get it there if he is a little late. thats probably why you see balls behind the wrs.
