Rock Hill Man, father of 4, charged with raping daughter's friend at sleepover

A father of four is behind bars, charged with raping a 10-year-old girl during a sleepover at his house.

Police arrested 32-year-old John Love at his Rock Hill home Wednesday evening.

Police launched an investigation earlier this month after the girl's mother told police of the alleged sexual assault while staying at her friend's house in late October.

According to a police report, Love's wife was out of town on the date of the incident.

In the report, the girl told detectives Love came into a bedroom to kiss her goodnight, and then asked her to come downstairs.

According to the report, the girl said Love appeared to be intoxicated and offered her a drink of what looked like a beer, which she refused.

The girl said Love pulled down her pajama pants and raped her.

Police said the girl did not immediately report the incident because she was afraid.

"Anytime there's a small child involved, there's fear of the person, or fear of not being believed," said Detective Bruce Haire.

Love, who has no prior criminal convictions, was denied bond at an initial court appearance Thursday afternoon.

The girl's father described Love as a trusted family friend of more than a decade.

The father said following the alleged rape, another relative observed physical interactions between Love and the girl that seemed inappropriate, and alerted her parents, who then questioned the girl about the relationship.

That's when the 10-year-old girl told her mother Love raped her.

Love is charged with first degree criminal sexual contact with a minor..

If that happened to my daughter, the son of a bitch would NEVER make it to trial.

They would never find the body.

Werd. Claw hammer. Shallow grave.

Nah...that is too quick.

I would take him down to the Everglades in Florida. We would spend about a week of quality time together. Once I made him suffer enough, I would strap him naked to a tree trunk deep in the swamp and let the critters have at him.

There is no amount of suffering to be deemed "enough" Hatter... Physical rape is psychological murder*.. I absolutely agree, not going to make trail if my kids are involved. Is there such thing as premeditated temporary insanity?

I don't think I could not go over there and beat the poo out of him and probably kill him... I'd just have to do the time...

fug it makes me mad just thinking about if someone did that to one of my kids.

Interesting. If it happened to my daughter he'd make it to trial. I wouldn't last in prison.

    • So Willis had a good game against a poor defense and all of a sudden he is worth 50 million and is guaranteed to be better than Young. LOL I know he looked good in the 3 games he started, and I think he will have success long term, but anyone signing him up for a long term contract for 50 million is taking a huge risk.
    • Is he really though? Rivera was past his prime and probably shouldn't have even started 2019 so his firing wasn't really unexpected or unwarranted. Rhule lasted two and a half years which was about one year too long in my opinion. Bringing him back that third year certainly wasn't impulsive and I would say Tepper was more patient than he should have been. Wilks finished out that third season and did pretty good but most everyone could see he really wasn't anything more than an intern HC. Bringing him back was not the long term answer so not bringing him back was the correct call. Hiring Reich was a mistake from the beginning and he recognized that fairly quickly. I am sure he knew he was going to catch a lot of sh*t for firing him so quickly ( and boy did he ) but it was absolutely the right thing to do given everything that was going on. The firing may have looked impulsive, but I think it was him recognizing he had royally f*ck up and just dealt with it instead of letting it fester.  That brings us to Canales. 2025 was only his second season and yet he delivered 8 wins and the NFC South title. And while that might not sound great, given the lack of talent and cap space they started with, it's a strong step in the right direction. I couldn't imagine Tepper not being pleased with their progress given the crap the Panthers' have been though under his ownership.
