I heard Vilma's lawyer on an interview yesterday with NFL sirius. The gist of his argument was that Bountygate never happened. They are trying to argue that Goodell was given bad information from an informant, and followed through with the punishments because he was too prideful to apologize when he realized he didn't have any solid information. Now he is just covering his butt and unwilling to admit he was wrong so he is doing a huge coverup instead of admitting he was wrong all along.

Personally I think that is a huge pile of crap but that is the mindset of Saint players and fans at this point. Forget the 200 pages released Friday to the press, forget the attorney who has said the evidence was solid. Vilma wants all 18,000 pages of documents released so he can find some information they can use against Goodell in his lawsuit against him and the league. Goodell likely is limited what is released on advice of counsel given he is being sued at this point and likely will have more suits brought by each of the accused players.

My simple question is why would Goodell even pursue this and why only with the Saints* and no other team if there wasn't overriding evidence? Why did Payton not fight it or Williams if they knew it wasn't true? What motivation would Goodell have to bring this forward with no evidence to surely blacken the eye of the NFL and a franchise he kissed their butt only a few years ago, Makes no sense......................
