Issue isn't Cam

CRA

Recommended Posts

sorry, but cam is most certainly an issue. not THE issue, but an issue, one of many.

there is no one culprit that is responsible. lots of blame to throw around. cam deserves just as much as any. i'm not letting him off the hook anymore than anyone else. the coaching staff, cam, smitty, the OL, the defense...all of them deserve a lot of blame.

cam can grow out of it, but it's not anymore a guarantee that it happens as it is that smitty will grow up or the coaching staff will get their crap figured out.

cam did things that cost us games this year. he wasn't the only one doing it, but he absolutely had a hand in it just like others did. blaming it on others isn't going to fix things. fortunately he isn't blaming others. his problem is, though, quite the opposite. he's putting too much of this on himself. there isn't anything the coaching staff can do to stop that, tho. that's one of those things that is 100% on him alone.

i know what cam's kryptonite is, or at least where it is...it's between his ears. the only one that can beat cam is himself. when cam feels defeated or he feels he's in a whole, he brings the whole team with him, just like he did at auburn and blinn except in the opposite direction. cam can pull a team up to the top of the mountain or drag it into the depths of sheol. should he have that power? doesn't matter...because of his infectious personality and his position, he has it. it's up to him what he's going to do with it.

I didn't realize the team was called the Carolina Newtons?

I wish we had more Panthers fans and less Cam newton fans, to say the current issues with the team isn't in part Cams fault would be like saying gravity is not what holds us to the ground.

With that said Cam is our franchise QB and he's still very new to the nfl and there are going to be some growing pains along the way, if you didn't think there would be you need to reality check.

Players are never what there worse or best efforts that is maybe 2-3 games a year they are what the other 13 games are that season and Cam just had his worse game since probably high school.

So don't panic and don't freak out, and at the same time don't deny what is the truth either.

I believe it was once said "it is what it is"

The Panthers should have never even been in the position of 4 and 1, and needing a touchdown to win with less than 2 minutes to play. They had 3 tries to 'get it in the endzone' and failed. Boneheaded playcalling all day led to this.....Cam was struggling and the coaches should have adjusted early in the game.

Run the stinking ball with Stewart and Williams, and then run it some more. The Panthers are asking and expecting too much from a 23-year old 2nd year QB to carry the entire offense. I guarantee that if the Panthers establish the run, the pass will 'all of a sudden' become very successful and Cam will become more like 'last year'. How many of you want our franchise QB as the top rusher on this team? Well, that appears to be the Panthers plan if you look at the plays.

Fumbles happen. Ask Williams....Stewart, Smitty, anyone. Effort plays result in those sometimes....

Bottom line is if Carolina needs a yard the ball should stay on the ground. yeah, Cam messed it up on the pass....but the right call last week and this week was to go for it on 4th down....ON THE GROUND. That is where the documented success is for the scenario......so pointing that out is just Chud always doing the unneeded.

This is the truth. Our problem is our coaching staff doesn't trust Cam in does situations. He fumble last week picking up the first down and now this week he couldn't hit the TE for a TD. Our team has some huge flaws and it is headed towards a disaster. We are in a too much of a deep hole to climb ourselves out. 1-4 to start this season is terrible if you look at our schedule.

Chud is trying WAY to hard to call a game. You have a 6'6 QB and 2 Bowling balls at the RB position run the damn thing in. I honestly wish right now that he was chosen as a head coach somewhere else this off season.

Way too hard dude. Rivera said that he wants to run the ball and play good defense. He allows his OC to make his damn QB the main runner. This is insane. Then everybody is shitting on Cam because he has problems throwing the ball in the fourth quarter on seven step play-action fakes after running the ball eight times the whole game. Am I the only one that sees this. Now they talking about he is Vince Young. I feel like I am taking crazy pills here.

Nice try op but most of these fans can only think in the vacuum of a few plays or moments.

We think Cam should be Tom Brady right now. They also set their expectations for this to high and now are looking for scapegoats for their own unreasonable expectations

Still trying to defend this guy? Psh

Sunday when Cam was out 2 out of 14 to start the game, he was actually hit on nine plays. This is what the announcer said. Smitty dropped two passes and another was a perfect throw and he was intefered with on the play. He was trying to make throws while being hit by defenders. It is dumb as hell to call seven step drops and make your lineman who are not that good to block 240lbs edge rushers. Alex Smith was ass until Harbough showed up and Drew Brees was absolute garbage until they drafted Phillip Rivers. So yeah fudge face, we are still successfully defending this guy.

Brees and Rivers are smart. They're not coming out with a new clothing line while their team is 1-4, nor do they have attitude problems, nor do they throw the ball at the ground with a wide open tight end in the endzone with the game on the line.

I won't say Cam is the problem, but people now know that Auburn simplified the playbook for Cam. Chud did the best he could to simplify the playbook for Cam in his rookie season but now teams have adjusted and Cam isn't capable, at this point in his career, to adjust himself to the game.

As much as the comparisons to Vince Young who got a 6 out of 50 on the Wonderlic frustrated me, I can't help but wonder what we have with Cam who got a 20 himself, 4 less than RG3 and 13 less than Luck.

Of course, if we were winning, nobody - including myself - would be discussing this. BUT we aren't winning and Cam has shown less knowledge of the game this year than last. It's scary.

the post you responded to with this lame rhetoric was fact-laden and had falsifiable/testable statements.

maybe you should give it a try some time.
