Is Greg Olson overated by Panther fans?

293 yards so far. he was pushing 250 after 4 games. had he been included in the saints and seahawks game plan he'd be well over 400, maybe 450 yards.

not his fault that cam/game plan ignored him, esp against the seahawks. he was open.

1000 yards is still very much in reach. 10 games left. he can get at least 800.

not over-rated. under-utilized. he's one of the most reliable receivers cam has...from looking at smitty recently, olsen may be the most reliable just because he hasn't made the boneheaded mistakes smith has.

I think he is the best offensive player on the team this year, but without big changes he's not going to make 1,000. It's not his fault, I just don't see it happening.

I know it is never going to happen, but I please try to understand that he was NOT constantly open during the Seahawks game! Regardless of what the talking head in the booth said. You don´t have to talk my word for it, just watch a replay.

Seattle game planed the zone in the middle to stop Olsen and this was possible because they trusted there corner to alone remove our 2nd reciever as a threat (and it worked, was like 2 catches by LaFell) plus getting preasure without blitzing.

And it did not help that most of that preasure was up the middle right in Cams face and in perfect position to batter down passes thrown to Olsen had he tried.

I am not saying he is not underutilzed on our game plan, had Cam been under center more I think he could easily pick up 2-3 no drop short passes a games (and break one of those every now and when). Plus passing out of the read option (if they have to use that) should also be possible (fake the dive, start the option roll out and dump it to Olsen instead of run/pitch) but I cannot recall seeing that either.

Olsen has been consistently getting open according to PFF, Cam has been ignoring him and forcing it to Steve. I've seen multiple times where Olsen has been open and he throws his hands up in frustration because Cam forces it to Steve or holds it too long and takes a sack.

Yeah, if I was in Cam's position he would be my safety blanket. If I was coaching Cam, I would tell him to look for Olsen.

Not even close to overrated, Olsen makes plays when they go to him. I looked for his catches/targeted stats but cant find them...

I know they had this same conversation a few years back on a Chicago board...

He is 15th in the league in targets at 34

and

He is 18th in the league in receptions at 22

Underutilized IMO.

PFF has him rated as their second rated TE behind only Gronkowski. They have him 21st in terms of how many times he's been targetted.

I would say we do not overrate him and he is very underutilized.

FWIW, I did think he was overrated based upon last season though.
