I think Marc Ross has the best shot at becoming our next GM. Scot McCloughan does have a spotty draft history but some of his draft day deals he made and the guys he got has made the 49ers what they are today. Let's face it, their are a lot of GM's they hit or miss in the draft process. Their is noway you can be flawless during the draft. What some people don't realize is that the 49ers had a good team before Jim Harbaugh. They just didn't have any sense of direction coaching wise.

Hard to know how seriously to take this given that he mentions DeCosta who doesn't seem like a realistic option at all.

Yeah dude everything I have read on DeCosta pretty much says he isn't going anywhere. He doesn't want to leave and is making a ton of cash in Baltimore.

I've never really thought of Mr.Richardson as a "hands on" owner until recently. It's pretty obvious now with the stories/reports/evidence that Mr.Richardson does what he wants to do.

Lately, it seems that the Big Cat doesn't care if the team stinks because he knows 70k fans are still going to pile in to the stadium Sunday and buy concessions, merchandise, etc.

It's similar to earlier in the year when he was a staunch supporter of not paying the officials. Sure, the quality of the games and integrity are affected, but guess what? The entire country is still paying money to watch the games and buy NFL stuff. As long as the cash flow is still going into his pockets its all good!!!

Yes, clearly Richardson doesn't care which explains why he bothered to fire Hurney anyway and why he hired someone to help him search for a good GM candidate. Also explains why he agreed to pay so much money in re-signing key players for us. CLEARLY he doesn't give a poo.

You can argue he isn't a good owner (I'd still agree). But to claim he doesn't care is absurd. The only time he's done anything to suggest that was in 2010 and that was only because he was preparing for the lockout. He's a conservative businessman. But he clearly cares about the team.

to be fair, he just said it was grapevine talk. i think interest in decosta is likely there and of course he'd be among those being talked about. that contract makes it most unlikely, but i think some of it would be does he want to create something like his mentor or does he want to just maintain what is handed to him?

easiest job would be baltimore, but the situation in carolina might be more interesting/challenging.

i'm not sure how comfortable i feel them limiting the search to only those who haven't done the job before, but i suppose it's better than only looking at ones who have done it before.

      We agree here dawg. I'd love for Bryce to succeed as would all huddlers. I have not seen a single huddler hate Bryce for anything other than his play on the field / potential / skillset. He hasn't gotten any of the irrational hate having nothing to do with football that Cam got. And yeah I understood going into this season with Bryce again as there weren't a ton of options, but man we missed the fuging mark on upgrading at backup QB with someone who could actually push Bryce. Bryce had zero pressure on him with a 100% washed up Dalton being the only other NFL caliber QB in the system. That absolutely needs to change this offseason. Ideally with an actual starter upgrade but that seems extremely unlikely due to not having many FA options and a bad draft. But at the very least with someone like you mentioned, young/upside and/or day 3 pick in the draft.   Another note, we have a top paid and top performing OL, great young talent at WR incl. likely OROY, great RB group, average all around TE group, offensive coach with creativity in the system and good play designs (poor situational playcalling but still I put out current offensive coaching staff over Shula who held Cam back for instance). Not the absolute best situation for a QB to be in, but still a very good situation around him. And yet we have a bottom 8 offense (6th lowest points scored). Imagine taking a victory lap for a QB leading his team to the 6th lowest points scored in the league and the 22nd highest passer rating (despite being asked to do less than many other QBs; i.e. Bo Nix who isn't great either and has a slightly lower passer rating but Sean Payton actually lets him try to throw the ball deep and has him throw significantly more than Bryce). Crazy

      similar to Atlanta and the NHL.  Atlanta has lost two NHL teams (and lost a minor leaguer).  Now there's another coalition pulling together another proposal for Atlanta to get an NHL expansion. While I'd like hockey to be back in Atlanta 'cause hockey is fun, I am skeptical that it'll happen based on previous teams' experience here alternatively: similar to Atlanta hosting a Major Tennis Tournament in advance of the US Open every mid/late summer.  Aside from the fact that Atlanta is said to be the country's largest Tennis playing city (with both USTA and ALTA, along with a number of side leagues) - playing tennis outdoors in Atlanta summer is miserable *and* they had difficulty attracting players... ticket sales were not good. So the Atlanta Open closed after 14 years.  They just couldn't make it happen, even if for all intents it appears to be massive tennis interest in the surrounding area.

      So I saw where Luke was doing that show parallel to the game. Whatever it was, statcast something something, knew it would be a good watch. I don’t get ESPN any more but that would be one of the about few things I would watch outside of games.     He doesn’t fool around on the radio broadcast.
