This defense has a chance to be special with a safety.

We've got really good DE's but what really give them that edge is when we've gome some push in the middle. One on one Johnson and Hardy are elite. Dwan Edwards is good but is 31. The other Edwards has hit that too old/injured all the time status. This is a pretty good draft for DT.

I want DT,S,WR or OT in the draft.

I want the same thing in the samorder.e

I don't think it's a popular opinion, but I think we should focus almost the whole draft on the defense. DT and secondary. I think the offense is good enough to succeed already, and with a mid-level o-lineman or two in free agency, we're all set there.

I think Rivera should build his dream elite defense, and the rest will come just based on the loaded offense we already have.

I don't want an average WR from this draft to add to our roster that is already loaded with average WRs. There is no A.J Green or Darrius Heyward-Bey caliber WR who could eventually replace Smith or supplant LaFell imo. Spending an entire season or more training a mediocre WR would be a nightmare. We need safe picks that can start now.

If we're going OG then I'd like to draft Warmack, the best run blocking O-lineman I've seen in a long time. He's a little slow pulling out in space, but in the trenches he's elite. Plug and play, immediate upgrade.

We certainly need a safety who can actually make plays on defense. Martin made a few plays, but RR doesn't seem to trust him. Fine, use this draft and find someone he wants to actually play. I'd prefer a ball hawk safety who plays with finesse, not a big hitter. Big hits = huge penalties in todays NFL. I'm thinking of a player like former Panther Deon Grant.

RR flopped with picking Fua and McClain, so I'm a little worried about who he might be targeting in this draft. NO fatass DTs who are sure to have off and on weight problems, and a host of nagging lower body injuries. Get a big lean DT, or wait until the next draft.

Outside of Steve Smith, we have...no...deep...threat. We have to address that also bro...oline too. Remember everyone thought our offense would be fine this year. If we want to be better at closing out games we need a better push up front so that we can run the ball when everyone knows that it is coming. Besides we can't say draft all defense when we have no idea who will be available when we pick. We can't act like we're loaded on offense(like last year) and put everything on Cam again. He's going into year 3 not 8.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
