if dude recovers he certainly has the potential to be a great player in the nfl, but....if rivera has any say in the draft, forget it because picking him is not a win now, it is a plan for the future. if we had more picks than needs, then it is a good possibility but don't anyone here get their hopes up and he could potentially go in the end of the 3rd round. i would be okay with taking him in the 5th but like i said before, he is a luxury and if we are indeed in a win now mode, we don't have that luxury.

We aren't in a position for this to be an option.

Gamecock fans are the ones insisting he is going to be ready to go for sure at the beginning of the season. His doctor, Andrews, says he has a lot to do.

are we expecting a 4th or 5th rounder to be ready to start their rookie year? lol

someone has some awfully unrealistic expectations. guys taken after the 2nd or 3rd rounds are projects, not immediate starters. usually the talent isn't there yet, just potential. here is a guy with the talent who just has to get healthy. legit first round talent for a whole lot cheaper than other options on the roster. what's not to like, unless you're just narrow minded?

They did it with Norman last year so it's always in play as an option.

I would hope that the team believes there is a chance that a mid/round selection has a chance to start. Giving up on that possibility when you have the need is not the approach to take IMO., You never know what's going to happen.

we could go down a very long list of "picked after the 3rd round and started as a rookie" but you don't have to convince anyone here, reality is all that matters and reality is that Lattimore probably won't be a Panther, although i would be shocked but pleasantly pleased if he were

Instead of taking shots in the dark or gambling at RB....we shoud gamble on late picks at positions of need or value positions.

Let's say you gambled on a DE and RB late and hit....the DE gamble likely has the better payoff

lol it's a frikkin 4th or 5th rounder! it's all a gamble to that point and you take the best players available...which he most definitely would be.

true, we have been forced to start players drafted that late recently, but we absolutely shouldn't have been and we shouldn't continue that practice. fill holes in FA the way we apparently are instead of hoping that inexperienced and untested players can. then take the bpa in the draft.

Norman came in to a position to play based on how thin we were at CB and how highly reguarded he was after the senior bowl. In reality, norman didn't look as good as many carolina fans would leave you to believe. If he was really the future and such a great player, i don't think chico would have benched him to look at josh thomas and dockery.

This thread is a great example of what's wrong with the huddle, the fact that this has made 50+ posts is astounding when you consider how irrelevant and nonsensical it truly is . This thread should have been gif bombed.

Bomb for looking at sleepers??? u should bomb yourself for your narrow mined views on nfl policies. Cultivating and trading away picks at positions you may not need is the way its done. Why take some scrub who is going to be cut in the 5th round for someone who has legit first round talent who could be traded away for something later that could help the team? Cassel, kirk cussins, kolb, matt shaub, micheal turner all are examples of teams drafting players would are not a need but could turn a profit later. why is this such a bad idea?

If he's there in the 4th or 5th, I think it's a no brainer. We will not likely find more value then that in those rounds, and if we can cut ourselves free of Double Trouble's contracts, getting a younger/cheaper/potentially better back on a 4th round contract for several years, it will be much easier ot extend Cam and get more meaningful positions in today's NFL passing league.

Oh I agree, Norman was terrible in his first year.
