Ron Rivera reportedly says the Panthers are "open to trading D. Will"

whether he got that 16 the day he signed or if it is spread out over the duration of the contract, it counts evenly thru the five years. At minimum, the Panthers are responsible for 9.6 million against our cap, which is 1.4 more than he counts against the cap this year alone. Cutting him this year unless it is a June 1st cut is losing money for nothing. He has one more season with this team and that much is almost guaranteed, which isn't a bad thing going forward.

I agree 100% and have never wavered from that line of thinking.

Some of you may not think this matters but if we cut him today or after june 1st or trade him or what have you it turns his deal into a 2 year/26 million dollar deal. JR/ his investors are not biting that bullet. Thats far worse than 5 yr/ 43 million its scheduled to be.

For those who question that math it's easy. He got a 16 million dollar signing bonus and received the day he signed the deal.

The other 10 million is from his 11 base salary of 4.5 million and his 12 base salary of 5.25 million plus his 250k workout bonus.

you can cut him today and label him a june 1 cut.

If it's done as a June 1st trade or cut, he would save the team 5 million this season (3.2 million cap hit) and 3 million next season (6.4 million cap hit). So if he was traded as a June 1st deal, it would give the team an extra pick and 8 million in savings over the next two seasons.

Nothing about that sounds bad at all, the only way he's worth his contract is if the team plans the running game around him and he gets 270 carries.

Draft / sign some quality OL depth and give our multi-million dollar running backs a chance to earn their fugging money.

Impossible. Give them a quality OL and the only way they could earn their money is with a Clausen-like QB who you don't want the ball in the hands of. One ball, carries dont exist for them to earn their checks. Both RBs are paid to be 1300, 10 TD rushers....

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
