Anyone else think the Sheldon Richardson mocks are just "experts" being lazy?

Seriously, we have worked 10 WRs. 10! We have not had any private workouts with Sheldon Richardson yet whatsoever. Are the so called draft experts" just putting down Sheldon Richardson by default just out of laziness, seriously. How can we have meetings with 10 different WRs and no meetings with Richardson, yet its unamious that all the experts say hes the guy and they wont budge?

I absolutely agree with the OP, that the Richardson picks are just lazy. I had the exact same thought the other day. However, I don't think it's a bad pick necessarily. It just seems like a prime example of "it's the Panthers/Jaguars/Bills/other team with a smaller fanbase. who cares just toss someone in that plays a position of need regardless of details". This phenomenon because especially prevalent when picking in the mid to later rounds. When these sort of teams pick early, there's more thought put into it because there's still elite players to assign. But once you get out of the top 5-10, the effort drops significantly.

A little thought or research would reveal that our pass rush is good, but our run defense sucks. So we need a run defender and someone to keep blockers off our excellent LBs. While I think Richardson will be a stud, he doesn't exactly fit that profile.

Yes they are, since smitty wants him too. It's easier to mock him to us. It it is me too because I look forward to new mocks and seeing Richardson at #14 be the only thing that remains the same.

He's just too light and too high of a center of gravity. If we already had a solid NT to put beside him he'd be my second choice behind Star, but as it stands I'd just be ok with us taking him. He's just not the type of DT we need. But like I said, I'd still be fine if he were our pick, but I'd hope we spend a pick on a Montori Hughes or someone like that later. A big, low center of gravity, fire hydrant. Someone to plug the middle that can take on multiple blockers.

I'm still praying Star drops to us though. He's everything we need in a DT and more.

I love Star to but I would be happy with Richardson as well. He so versatile and if he is taking up 2 blockers we win regardless. Because that mean Luck isn't dealing with a guard and they are going 1-1 with CJ and Hardy.

pretty much all mock drafts are either lazy or complete fantasies at this point. the draftnik world runs totally outside of reality, as far as the people who actually make the decisions are concerned.

I don't think so. I also still think it would be a good pick for us. He's a really good pass rusher, and he's really pretty solid against the run, too. Dwan Edwards is hardly our long-term answer at his position. Drafting a guy like Richardson may not be the fan favorite pick for 2013, but it would be a great pick for the future of the team.

Now, having said that, I am still hoping we go WR and Safety with our first two picks.

So we were going to draft a safety with a higher pick last year and that safety was nearly as good a prospect as 2 in this draft and we're not going to get one a year later with our secondary dying for a leader? Ok.

It's the same thing as when Mel Kiper kept mocking a TE to us year after year. When you don't have a stud at every position, immediately mock drafters slot a guy in there early because of a perceived want and "need."

I personally don't like that many mock drafters are selecting Richardson for the Panthers, but I do think there is a much better chance of selecting Richardson this year than there was of selecting Fletcher Cox last year.

I honestly think if you look at tendencies, you kind of have to mock a safety or wideout to the Panthers in Round 1. It just makes more sense, unless Star or Floyd are there (I highly doubt it). So, yes, it is lazy mock drafting.
