Who are your top 5 for the 2nd?

Recommended Posts

This is my order of preference for our 2nd round pick (from another thread):

1. OG Larry Warford - I think Warford would have a similar (though lesser) impact plugged into the OL that Star is going to have on the DL, by making everyone around him better.

2. Jonathan Cyprien - a plug-in starter at SS? Yes, please.

3. Menelik Watson - worth getting a replacement for Gross this year?

4. Keenan Allen - another immediate starter.

5. Justin Hunter - see comment above.

6. Zach Ertz - double tight-end sets? Yes, please.

7. Johnathan Banks

8. Robert Woods

9. Jamar Taylor

10. D.J. Swearinger

No Dallas is retarded they only got a third rounder for going that far down. Then they got a third round prospect. But yes the Bengals pick before us. I don't think Detroit will take a safety with their pick. I think the Bengals may get Cyprien!!! I hope not though. But Swearinger will be there, he is just real slow coming off the hash to get to the ball.

I think Dallas got SF's other 2nd round pick.

The only think that has a real chance of taking Cyprien is like you said Bengals. Hopefully, they look at Lacy instead of Cyprien. I wouldnt mind Swearinger. Hes been compared to TJ Ward. Pretty good comparison I say.

Slay. News just came out today about some injury. Let me see if I can find it.....

"Mississippi State cornerback Darius Slay, regarded as a potential first-round pick, tore the meniscus in his knee this offseason, raising medical questions with teams, league sources said.

Some doctors have told Slay he can play through the injury without undergoing surgery and other doctors believe surgery would be preferable, sources said."

Might drop him down to the 4th or 5th

if he drops to the 4th then I think it takes about 30 seconds to take that card up to the podium.

Mine:

WR Justin Hunter, Tennessee (6-4, 196, 4.44) is my choice.

I only want this because of Madden lol.

Wray-Wilson and Jamar Taylor would be great at CB.

Kevin Wydle(draft guy) is on now talking about DJ Swearenger and the lber out of Kansas State being the 2 guys he would bank on to be pro bowlers.

He ranks Cyphrien, DJ Swear, Wray-Wilson, Taylor, Stedman Bailey as the order of Panther best fits.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
