Scott Fowler: Wins are Cam's litmus test this year

I find it funny how people mention the ATL game. Yea Cam fumbled after he had gotten a first down but that was a flukey play. I don't care who you are if they get a helmet on that ball then it's coming out. Plus we recovered the damn ball. The defense lost that game.

Then the Seattle game is another game mentioned. Should Cam have made that throw? Absolutely but you guys talk as if time expired after that play. There was still football to be played and we all know how are defense is in clutch situations.

Some of you talk about 4th quarter comebacks but don't even know how they are accomplished. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning have those comebacks because they get multiple oppurtunities late in the game. With Cam he usually only has one shot and has to be perfect.

Cam definitely needs to stop trying to play hero ball but that comes when you trust your defense. I don't think Cam trust the defense to get the job done so he takes unnecessary chances

the colts played a weak schedule and luck turned the ball over a poo ton which finally bit them in the ass in the playoffs

much more of a litmus test for rivera than cam. maybe not from media, but on the whole...if we have a winning season or losing season it's going to have more to do with the management of this team than one individual player.

this is total horse crap, the offense haven't added anyone since Cam been here. This is gonna be Cam's 3rd year with the same crappy personnel. Matter of fact, the onus should be put on the defense to shut teams down. This team is going in the same direction as the jets. Strong defense, O-line can't block, receivers can't catch and coach can't coach.

Why all the excuses??  Newton fumbled the ball on a critical play after he got the first down.  He threw a 5 yard pass in the ground with a wide open receiver?  He failed to make plays when he could have singlehandedly won those games.  Could other people have stepped up?  Of course..  Was it all his fault?  No.  But I guarantee if you asked him he would readily admit he blew those plays and should have made them.  If he would admit it, why make excuses??  The Falcons were 13-3 because Ryan made a number of late plays to salvage victory out of the jaws of defeat. Why would we not expect Newton to do the same thing?

And the whole taking chances because he didn't trust the defense is coming out of left field.

 

I wish I had people like you to constantly make excuses for me when I screw up. LOL

yes why point to anything quantifiable when we can just yell about wins like we're on ESPN.com.  if we're talking about wins and fourth quarter comebacks as the sole criteria and actual statistics don't matter then luck's profile is actually a pretty close match to tim couch as he did a lot of the same stuff as a rookie but missed the playoffs due to injury.  it makes just as much sense as blindly saying he's going to be great and win super bowls.  go find somebody stupid to troll.

When I mention the Atlanta fumble, I always refer to it as one of the 4-5 flukey plays that had they gone our way would have meant 10 wins....showing how close we really are to a playoff team.

 

The throw vs Seattle is a little different.  That was a play that Cam has to make in that situation...nothing flukey about it. 

 

The last two paragraphs of your post are nothing but excuses for Cam...and he does not need our excuses.  There were plenty of times over the past two seasons that we had the ball and needed a drive to win the game, only to come up short.

 

He is getting better and I fully expect a huge year from him.

Our division had one team last year with a winning record.....not exactly a stellar division.

I may be in the minority here but in my opinion the fact that chud is gone will help cam more than anything else this season. I believe arrogant play calling caused a lot of the early season struggles. Take the first tampa game for instance, the o line was playing like crap but most of the plays were either read option or deep routes. Anyone with any sense knows bad o lineplay + slow developing plays = bad news. The fact that they didnt adjust plus not allowing audibles sounds like arrogance to me.

Now with that being said, I dont know if shula is the answer but I guess we will see.

You guys know what determines a 4th qtr comeback......the team that has the ball last. I need to look it up but I know Cam got us alot of leads with 2-3 min left in game. Then the D or special teams blows it and we have less then 20 seconds left, not even Brady can score that fast most of the time.

 

Now counter argument, yes Cam failed in ATL and SEA, but that is the only two times I can think of. 

 

 

Nevertheless I want to see the wins so we can shut the world up.

 

 

Last point yes we had the 10th ranked defense...thats for 58 minutes.  I know for a fact our D had to be 32nd in the last 5 minutes of the 4th qtr!
