No, but whether you consider him to blame or not, Newton was involved in a couple of questionable events in college. Plus his being a quarterback puts him in a brighter spotlight than if he was, say, a tight end.

The only thing Cam really "did" was the entertainer comment... which was absolutely nothing, but the media ran with it.

 

Cam is about as pure a football player as you can get... yet he gets constant criticism.

 

Keek is the same and he is universally hailed... something is wack about that... could be a lot of things, but racism is certainly part of it.
