I'm calling here first. I think our next HC will be Mike Tomblin. Word is that the Ronneys may make a change if there is no playoffs this year as the whole team is going to have to be redone due to the cap mess they have theirselves in.

Tomblin has a defensive background but he is in my opinion the very definition of a head coach.

Tomlin would be a great choice and he has history with McDermott. He would probably keep the defensive staff mostly intact. The offensive staff needs an overhaul with the exception of Proehl and Skipper. We need an OC that is going to craft a system to maximize Cam's abilities.

Look Guys, Shaw is not coming here, or going anywhere else for that matter. I want him as much as everyone and more than anyone; he has character, pedigree, and vision. But this man bleeds cardinal: 

 

 

 

 The calls offering other jobs, including in the NFL, have come in the past two seasons he says, but he rebuffed them all. He knows the whispers that he'll follow Harbuagh's path to the league, but he says they don't see what he has going here. 

The energy. The excitement. The potential. Coaching football is the family business. He knows when a situation is perfect.

"It's not the time [for the NFL]," Shaw said. "What we are doing here is so special. We haven't built it yet. We are building and I think what we are building has a chance to be more special than anything else that's going on in college football. 

 

"The thing people don't count is that the NFL doesn't hold some mystique for me. I spent a decade in it. I understand what it is about. For a lot of these long time college coaches, they say, 'Gosh, one day I want to get up there.' I've been there."

In another post I listed Shaw, Vic Fangio, and Ray Horton as my choices for a HC.

 

I liked Vic Fangio because he is candid and straightforward. But he followed Harbaugh to SF. He is a long tenured DC and not a HC. I don't know the sentiment toward him from his days here. 

 

 

 

Fangio shrugged when I asked him if he saw any Harbaugh-Fangio parallels to the way Walsh and Seifert ran the 1980s 49ers dynasty, but he noted one similarity.

"One thing Bill Walsh did when he was the head coach, he still had a good feel for what it takes to play good defense," Fangio said.

"And I think Jim has the same feel, too."

 

 

 

 Harbaugh is not Walsh, but the comparison is enough to keep me away.

 

Lastly there is Ray Horton. He was pissed that he got passed up for the HC position with the Cardinals. He is with Chud and the Browns now. We will see how their D does this year. But out of these three I like him. He is aggressive, a former player, and like our GM, has won 3 superbowls. I don't see him staying a coordinator for long; he wants to be a HC; he is fiery, and I say we bring that here.

The only Gruden that I want is Jay- Jon can stay on MNF with Tirico

After reading about Roman, I like him. He helped Alex Smith look good; he makes Kaep look good. I just don't know if he wants to come here. He signed a contract extension. If he doesn't like what he sees he can just stay in SF. Would or will he trade Kaep for Cam? 

 

And as far as Lovie Smith- do not want. The bears fired him after they won ten games for a reason. 

 

 

At the time of the firing, Emery gave this explanation for letting Smith go, "Our No. 1 goal always has to be to win championships, and to win championships we have to be in contention on a consistent basis, and to be in contention we have to make the playoffs on a consistent basis," Emery said. "We've had defensive excellence, but during the course of coach Smith's years here, we've had one offense that was ranked in the top 15."

Emery further expounded this week on why he fired Smith, who won 10 games -- but missed the playoffs -- with the Bears in 2012.

"We were in a position where if he stayed, he would be picking his fifth offensive coordinator," Emery said, via TheMMQB.com. "Part of it was because I really believe looking at a team that if you're going to have success, the most important relationship is between the head coach and the quarterback."

That meant either Cutler or Smith had to go and Emery wasn't about to get rid of Cutler.

Kevin Sumlin- who was he before Johnny Football? Who will he be after Johnny Football? -Do not want

 

Mike Zimmer has been a good DC, yet has not landed a job. Parcells says he's ready, and to summarize his remarks, "Why hasn't anyone hired this guy?" -Last I checked our coach was passed up and when we finally hired him people were saying "finally". Not saying Zimmer is RR, but simply no. 

 

Tomlin I am not against. I think he is great coach. Has coached in two SB and won one. I'll take it.

What the hell has Mike Zimmer ever accomplished to make someone think he would be a good HC? I don't get why his name is mentioned here so much.

 

He has a 90 - 117 record as a defensive coordinator. Whooptie fuging doo.

 

Over 30 years of coaching experience, about 20 of it being in the NFL...

 

Ran what was consistently one of the best defenses in the league in his Dallas days...

 

Coached a 3-4 unit into a strong defense despite having never coached 3-4 (Parcells wanted it)...

 

Took the no-name players on the Bengals defense and molded them into a good unit...

 

Turned malcontents like Pac Man Jones, Rey Malauga and Vontaze Burfict into solid players...

 

Believes in and has always run a very aggressive, attacking, no-quit/no give style of play...

 

Recognized by players and peers all over the league as one of the best coaches around...

 

Basically, he's been around forever and continually gets talked up about how good he'd be as the man in charge.  Yet somehow, for whatever reason, every year the opportunity just doesn't materialize.

 

Essentially, he's the Dave Gettleman of coaches.

Jon Gruden- I think he would do a great job here and I think he would take the job.

 

Needs a strong DC- would love to have Rivera as DC but obviously not going to happen.

 

Gruden would bring back the swagger.  This team has talent- just needs confidence and the right coaching staff.

I just fear Richardson won't go after a name guy after Seifert, but us fans need someone to be excited about.  Everyone was done with Fox and ready to give anyone a chance after 2010, but Rivera never had a presence even during his introductory news conference.
