Cam Newton dons cover of ESPN the Magazine

Carolina first-year general manager Dave Gettleman set the bar during training camp when he said Newton was the team’s quarterback of the future, “but now it’s time to win.”

Newton understands those expectations.

“This is year three. This is the year they say you either do it or you don’t. I know that,” Newton told ESPN the Magazine. “Everyone in football knows that. And the people up there in those stands know that. Year three.”

I'm slowly forming the opinion the Gettleman had a secret meeting with Cam in which he explained this season is all about fixing the cap, getting the old vets out, good draft picks, and railroading Rivera out of town so Gettleman can hire David Shaw/Greg Roman.

I do like the cover photo though.  Kind of destroys the narrative that Cam wears the towel because he is "mopping" on the sideline.
