Steve Smith on winning home games: It doesnt matter.

this...

Seems clear to me in the quote.

Steve says he has an attitude at home and away games. He is the same player and bringing the same intensity. So it's not a shot at "home games".

this...

What he means is that no matter where you play you have to come with the same intensity.

and this...

Home wins don't count any more than road wins is what he's saying

Players don't look ahead on the schedule. Their entire focus is on the next game.

This sums it up. He's saying you come to play your hardest every game, road or home, and he's not thinking ahead to the next game because he's completely focused on beating the Rams.

Steve just being Steve. Knew what the reporter wanted to hear....didn't give it to him

The right answer as even coaches tell you.....win your home games, split on the road and you are easily in the playoffs.

Homefield advantages do exist. Cam wants one. Knows it starts with players to get one.

Last time the Panthers made the playoffs they were undefeated at home in the regular season.

You can look at that in multiple ways though, home success propelled the team, yes, but in the playoffs they were demolished by Kurt Warner's Cardinals.

Winning at home is overrated and never reliable. You need around 10 wins, more or less, to get into the playoffs. You can get those 10 any way, it just needs to be 10. And in the playoffs, you might be better off playing team X on the road than team Y at home.

Match-ups are more important than fields. Kurt Warner VS our secondary, put that in Charlotte, the moon, Arizona, nothing will change the outcomoe.

Steve is right and wrong.  It doesn't matter if you are home or away you need to bring it.  But generally speaking, it hurts the Panthers franchise to play so poorly at home.  Away games are tougher no matter how hard you try especially for the offense.  If the Panthers could find a way to win consistently at home, it would make their lives so much easier.  So yes, as a player, you should have the same intensity home and away but the Panthers would really energize the franchise and fans if they won consistently at home.
