Does our D seem to be wearing down or am I just spoiled?

Until that last drive, in which we went into prevent defense, mike glennon was well below 50% passing. In fact, it was closer to 40%. That's with Vincent Jackson at wide receiver.

I'm not worried at all about our front 7. We have the best in the league. But, our CBs concern me. I definitely think we should address that fairly soon.

These player/O/D/ST threads lately are nearly as bad as off-season threads.  Good grief guys, do you really think our D is THAT overhyped, tired, lucky, etc.?  The OP acknowledges the stats and then essentially disses them by pointing out borderline legitimate, but even so, minor issues that WILL be addressed.  The front four is beastly.  Our LB core is arguably the best in the NFL.  Our allegedly patchwork secondary has stepped up, even getting some startlingly good play from a couple of undrafted rookies.  If we're that shaky right now, imagine how good this defense will be when it matures and a few more playmakers are brought on board.  We're above .500 for the first time in five years, have a D that is near the top across the board, an offense that is starting to click, and we don't automatically think "oh crap" every time the ST takes the field like we were doing not that long ago.

TLDR: Don't worry, be happy mon.

My two observations from Thursday night:

1.  They seemed to have trouble when a fullback leads the way..at least that's what I noticed on TV...that's what it looked like....looked like they overshot

           their gaps

2.  It looked like they were going through the motions a bit against Tampa.

It's  long season...its rare for any team that all 3 sides of the ball look great in every game.

They just better bring their A game for the next 3 games:   two QBs that can slice up a defense if given time and a QB who scrambles, have done too well against those.

One thing about Ryan and Brady, they aren't Glennon, won't be any 'gift' over or under throws.

Rams had a TD if not for us getting bailed out by a penalty and the Bucs drove to the redzone twice and had two botched snaps.

Had Long not tripped Hardy Bradford would have been on his ass before that ball came out.

We only been playing with 2 LB instead

I dont understand why we traded Beast if Chase isn't playing 3 downs

We ran a TON of plays out of the Nickel last year and are going to continue to that this year.  With Luke and TD you are looking at two of the best linebackers in league in pass defense, both with ridiculous closing and sideline-to-sideline speed.  Putting a third LB out there just takes a guy out of the secondary making us more vulnerable to the pass.

You also gotta remember that we've been snowballing games HARD in our favor.  Once they start to get out of hand we only rush 4.  Obviously QBs have quite a bit more time vs a 4 man rush than a blitz.

As far as I'm concerned our defense is out performing 90+% of the leagues defenses.  Sure I'd love it if we could pitch a shut out, have 10 sacks and 3 picks every single game, but that just isn't realistic.  Teams spend millions of dollars on scouts, offensive talent and coaches whose jobs are to do everything imaginable to shred defenses and we've done damn good work at spoiling their attempts.

Yeah but it makes us open against the run at times. Luke getting hit by a Lineman and TD by a TE or FB

as others have mentioned, our model of winning the past three games has been to stifle opposing offenses during the first half, score efficiently in the first half, and then mostly rush four and let everyone else drop into coverage. This is allowing yards, but it's generally garbage time yards, and half the time we have in our second and third-stringers by then anyway (last week was an exception.) in short i see absolutely nothing to complain about.

also lmao @ "if the rams hadn't gotten called for holding they would have had a touchdown." hey genius, if the rams hadn't held they would've taken a hit or a sack and not gotten a touchdown.

can someone remind me why the OP still has the ability to create threads?

looking at defensive points allowed per quarter:

Q1: 0.7 - 2nd (Hotlanta 0.5)

Q2: 2.6 - 2nd (Green Bay 2.2)

H1: 3.3 - 1st

Q3: 4.3 - 12th

Q4: 6.1 - 14th

H2: 10.4 - 14th

PPG: 13.7 - 2nd (KC 11.6)

This looks like more of a half time adjustment thing, than a D is getting worn down thing.  Also keep in mind that we have given up a few garbage time TDs in the 4th, when we are way up with 5 or so to go.

Additional stats on this:

we are #1 in PPG allowed over the last 3 games with 12.7

we are #1 in PPG allowed at home with 9.0

we are #4 in PPG allowed away with 17.2
