USA Today Calls Out Rodney Harrison on Cam

On October 6, after Cam Newton threw three interceptions, fumbled and was sacked seven times in Arizona and the Panthers lost, 22-6, Rodney Harrison popped off on NBC about how it was time for Carolina to bench Cam Newton. There was little or no context, just another talking head going knee-jerk based on a 60-minute performance.

[Aside: What did Harrison say about Matt Ryan, who threw 61 passes and was intercepted four times in Arizona SundayNothing.]

Two weeks prior, Newton was effective in beating the Giants handily at home (15-of-27, 223 yards, three TDs, one interception, one rushing TD).

Here’s what Newton has done since the disaster in the desert:

* Three straight games completing 70% or more passes
* 6 TDs passing, 0 interceptions
* 2 TDs rushing, 0 fumbles

I don't get how some players are allowed to have bad games and others aren't. Throw Cam out the window. Andy Dalton has a rough night last night and this morning all you hear is how he isn't the answer in Cincy. But Matt Ryan can have 4, and 5 interception games and nobody says a word. Same thing with Drew Brees. RG3 is playing like hot garbage and it's gone from he gets a pass for the first few weeks to he gets a pass this year. I just don't get it. All offseason we heard about all in for week one and how he was ready to play and how he was super human and now he gets a pass. If you are not a "chosen one" they will tear you down no matter how well you play. If you are then they will make excuses for you. Quarterbacks have bad games.

Harrison hates the panthers as a whole I think...isn't he the one that belittled our win against the Vikings too?

Could have something to do with what Jake Delhomme said to him after throwing that 85 yard touchdown to Moose in the Super Bowl.

Radio guys asked him what he said.  Delhomme replied "I think I just asked him how his mother was doing" :lol:

For the record, Harrison was a regular contender for the annual "Dirtiest Player in the League" title (voted on by players).  Pretty sure he won it at least once.

    • Sir. You have been shouting down any and all valid skepticism and criticism of our #1 overall pick for 2+ years running. You spent all last spring running cover for him and complaining about derails and toxicity only for us to open the season with back to back blowout losses largely contributed by Bryce Young's abysmal play. You have engaged in the exact same formula this spring. You've spent the last two months rage pooing my posts like an angry ten year old even while you've had me on ignore just for speaking the truth about this QB room and our offense. We opened the season with yet another blowout loss this time to a previously 4 win team. And here you are still trying to play the victim while weaponizing the reactions. Any suggestion of you being victimized by anyone else here is a complete and utter farce. You know it. I know it. Have yourself a great day.
    • If he went to Clemson he would be off the board. Still hard to believe they have never drafted a Clemson player.
    • Simply put, Evero has been shafted during his time here. The talent we left him to play with last season was criminal. They've invested some more into the D this offseason, but it's still a unit that's woefully short of talent.  We should have let him walk in the offseason when he wanted to go.
