How to beat the Patriots.

Tom Brady and the Patriots have the rep of being unbeatable.  Of Brady being smarter than any defense and along with Belicheat figuring out how to stomp a mudhole in the opposition.

I want to know specifically how we're going to beat them and why.

Here is my take.

1.  Pressure.  Brady does not do well with pressure up the middle especially.  We just happen to have a few guys that can collapse that pocket like there is no tomorrow.  Star is going to be key for this game and I love how they move CJ and the Kraken around on that line to get more pressure up the middle.  Look at teams that beat up on the Pats.  The Giants when their D-line was lights out.  The Jets earlier this season.

2.  Confuse Brady.  Brady is really good at reading a defense so we have to keep changing it up and I've seen us do that quite a bit.  I've seen a number of times where DE will drop into coverage when a LB blitzes or a safety.  We've got the talent to switch it up.  DE that can drop into pass coverage and not get their lunch eaten.   We don't have to get exotic we just have to get Brady to take that extra second and not give him the chance to figure out where to go with ball presnap.

3.  Control the clock and run the ball.  Can you guess who leads the NFL in time of possession?  Yep, we do.  Brady says on the bench and we pound their line with the run.  Anyone wanna guess who's 30th in the league in run defense?  Yep, the Pats.  Add in some Cam runs and make them account for him and it's going to get ugly.  Tolbert is going to hurt somebody (again) or D-lo is going to snap some tired defender's ankles.

I think this is what it will take the be in the game and have a chance to win.  What makes me feel very confident is that this years Panthers are built for those things, especially 1 and 3.

I was watching NFL Matchup today and they specifically singled out #59 and showed when the TE he's guarding turns his head, Luke does it as well resulting in picks and breakups. I think Gronkz is going to have a tough night. Brady isn't going to have the time that he had during the Steeler game to pick us apart down field.

I'll be interested to see how Ron and Sean defend the Pats three tight end sets, but I have faith in Thomas "the Terminator" Davis, and AJ "The Hebrew Hammer" Klein (forgive me if he isn't jewish, it's just too funny). Ron had the reputation of defeating Payton while he was at the Chargers, I'm expecting some of the same against Brody...

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
