we play zone.

he's not good in zone.

he ould be as misused and ultimately as ineffective as revis in tampa or worse because he's got so much mileage.

that said...what could it hurt?

Wasnt captain abused by Colston in man to man coverage? I was only able to see highlights of the game tho so not sure.

aside from those first couple series, all of them were abused or just exploited. they left holes and creases and brees knew exactly where they were and the receivers got there easily.

he and the receivers had just enough time to get where they needed to be and that OL gave him that time. and shame on our front line for giving them that time. that shouldn't have happened.

Sitting back in a zone, rushing 4 isn't going to cut it against high powered offenses... especially on the road. You have to play man and you have to bring the blitz at times

The scheme is a 4-3 zone blitz.

We haven't blitzed as much this year because we haven't needed to, but even when we do, it's still zone coverage on the back end.

And no, we're not changing defensive schemes with 13 games down in a 16 game season.

I know what the scheme is. Great teams make adjustments and change things around, if not you pay the price. You just witnessed the Saints do what no other team has done against us. So what do you do? Play them again the exact same way and hope that it works this time?

From what i saw, brees was on top of his game. Three step drop and the ball was out. Cant really blame the front seven for that. Its Nearly impossible to apply pressure so quick.

Also noticed Hardy on the ground for quite a few plays. Whats up with that?

I could take the time to try and explain the difference between 'adjustments' and changing an entire scheme, but I doubt it'd be productive.

Sure, you're correct. But that's just another excuse. We play zone bc we have scrubs in the secondary. Lets say if we have a Sherman or Primed Revis, would we play zone? Hell no we let them play man coverage all day.

We do not play zone because of our CB's....we play zone becuase of the scheme (Jim Johnson scheme with zone DB's)./

Even YOU are smarter than what you are posting.

    • It wasn't a his sack production, it was about his skill set, build, and scheme fit. He's a six foot tall 280 pound DT. He's best used as an interior pass rushing specialist. He can't play the nose in a 3-4 and he doesn't have the length or burst to play he end either. He just wasn't a scheme fit. He'd be a good roster piece as a rotational pass rushing specialist DT to bring in on passing downs in an even defensive front. But you can't hand out a 3 year/$45M contract for that either. Tha type of contract means you have to try to find starter snap numbers for him and that's a problem in a 3-4 front. Hell, it's a problem in a 4-3 front too. That's why the Chiefs were willing to let him walk.
    • Quite a few people argued we way overpaid high end starter money for a guy that was basically a capable backup at best. It was a bad move facilitated by a need to save face after missing out on Williams. It is what it is man. We aren't being paid to carry Dan Morgan's water. It'll be alright.
    • Who else at DT was available coming off a 6.5 sack season, that was relatively affordable?  We took the Milton Williams money and added Turk AND Bobby Brown III. You can't predict soft tissue, and surgery in this case. Part of the business.
