Did we just lose Greg Hardy discount...

I hate that rosenhaus is his agent. Makes me think he will basically auction off hardy to the highest bidder, regardless of who it is

No doubt.   The guy is great at getting his player top dollar but it isn't always what is best for the player.

Hardy will do well anywhere he plays but he benefits from having CJ on the other side.  He might not be so fortunate with another team when he is the top dog.

I hope we keep him but we cannot break the bank on him.  Would be foolish and I also believe we have talent behind him if we were to lose him.

Greg Hardy is gone baby gone. He will want too much and we wont pay up. The beauty of having the no 1defense is it means you have cushion to lose a player like Hardy and still be a top 8 D in the league. Business is business, let him walk, use the money for O line. Wes Horton and Addison arent world beaters but plug them in Hardy's place and we are still a top 7 unit.

Dave Gettleman will not let him just walk. DG ain't that stupid. Either Hardy signs a long term deal, DG Franchise tag him, or the team that wants him bad enough will pay dearly with this year 1st round pick. But DG will not let the guy go for nothing. No smart GM will ever do that. DG been around way to long and has been through this a whole lot with guys like JPP,Strahan, Tucker and so on. Hardy will stay or be gone at a price to the team that wants him bad enough. Plain and simple.

Attention everyone. DG has come from a Giants franchise that has been good at keep their books straight still keeping that very important players over the years. DG one of those guys that help resign a lot those guy without breaking the bank on guys like Strahan and JJP Tucker and so on. While we have tight cap. DG will sign Hardy to long term without break the bank and will be ready to deal with Newton contract next year. And we don't really need to go to the FA market to keep building our team. DG will do everything resign some of these 1 year guys to longer deals and keep building this team through the draft like always. Everyone needs to stop worrying so much and allow DG to do his job. That is why JR hired the guy. Because what he can do. Look at how DG worked our books this past off season. He will do it again. Trust in DG guys. Hardy will not walk. Marked my words he will get resigned this off season by DG.

He was at my little brothers bar tonight when he found out about his pro-bowl selection. He ordered some shots and celebrated his achievement with some hottie on his arm. Later in conversation he made it a point to emphasize that Carolina gets a serious hometown discount and he loved it here.

Now don't be messin' here...

Hardy was never going to give us much of a discount to begin with.....discounts don't really exist in the NFL.

Older players may at times take less cash....but they do it for other reasons that benefit them.

Hardy is gonna try to get paid.

That's kind of what all agents do isn't it? Unless their boss (the player) directs otherwise?  NFL agents' commission is 3% of the NFL salary they get their client.

PS

Here are the top 25 DE cap hits for anybody interested.

CJ renegotiated to reduce his hit this year but jumps to over 16 million next year.

Hurney put us up against the wall in so many ways.  The CJ contract, along with all the RB contracts have hamstrung us.

On one hand, we cannot afford to fork over another 12 mill per season for another DE, on the other hand, our D's rise to prominence has been due to a ferocious front seven.  If we do not generate a pass rush with the front four, the back seven will have to resort to blitzes which weaken the pass D.  It is a very serious issue.

I will say that DG knows the value of lineman on both sides of the ball and several years, when the Giants already had a good D Line, they drafted more. Now, are there guys that can come in and perform at Kraken levels?  Sort of doubt it.
