Super Bowl XLVIII: Date subject to change

The Super Bowl shouldn't be played in the elements. There could be 16 feet of snow and 30 below zero and the NFC championship game should go on. Not the super bowl. The elements should be superb, and the best team should win.

 

Why? The chance of driving snow is very little. Heck, even the rain bowl when the Colts beat the Bears was a fun one. The only real issue is cold weather and that won't hamper the MEN who are on the field. Just the pussbags who won't even be in the stands who cry from their warm weather climates. Don't make the Super Bowl into some mystical, glitter-filled, entertainment fest. That's the advertisers job. The Super Bowl is a game. Period. Team versus team. The temperature is not a factor.

I've played in frigid cold, blazing heat, driving rain, blowing snow, pretty much anything. It's what football players do. And in all of those conditions, the stands were full. Only time I ever saw people move was a thunderstorm in a stadium with all metal bleachers.

Pro fans in Chicago, Buffalo, Philadelphia, Green Bay and others all show up in the worst conditions. Heck, plenty of times you get shirtless guys (usually pretty well lubricated). Throw in that one of the best games ever played was nicknamed The Ice Bowl.

I have zero issues with the game being played in a old climate venue. If fans don't like it, let 'em give up their tickets to fans who do.

It's not a matter of playing in the elements, as football should be, or beating your chest to show how tuff you are. The important fact here is weather controls everything and we control none of it, mainly travel. With the Super Bowls, scheduling matters soooo much for ticket sales and prime air time, you could be faced with playing a Super Bowl with 1/4 of the attendance because of plane delays or be forced to move it to accommodate all those who bought tickets. Either of the two would be horrible for the game. As CC eluded to, is the NFL so arrogant to think it has tens of millions of Americans on standby for a window of 3 full days?!

      Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.

      This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.

      Guessing the price is too rich here given the injury history.  2024 was brutal and production dropped off in 2025 with a few more injuries (albeit rough qb play).    Don’t really understand the narrative that Young can’t benefit from talented upgrades on offense. Especially here with respect to a tight end. Any QB will benefit from talented receivers that threaten the top of coverage and tight ends with skills to stress zone.    The age and injury history, coupled with what he’s likely asking, just probably means we can better spend that money elsewhere.
