Losing a pet is one of the hardest and most emotional things to experience...yet

sorry for your loss man

lost my best friend 8 months ago. English yellow lab. 14 years old. Long and healthy life until the end.

worst part was driving back from key west to nc because my dad had called and said he had taken a turn for the worst. looked in his eyes and petted his head and said i loved him one last time before the vet had to do it.

never have i cried so hard in my life. remembering all the hikes, the middle school science experiment he helped me with, the trips to the park. him trying to run through the snow when he was a pup. him growling and barking at his reflection when he was a pup. him falling asleep in my bed and waking me up licking my face.

dogs are the most loving creatures that walk the earth.

thanks all for the kind words this has been very tough and emotional for me still... Im crying now writing this, I miss him so much he was the sweetest dog who didn't deserve all the bad in his life, he was abused before I got him. I'm happy he spent the rest of it with me and my family safe and loved.

sorry to all who lost there pets I know how you feel... I lost my mom 6 months ago to cancer her death has still been hard on me and with Angus passing it makes it more tough, I'm sick of cancer/death.

my better half wants another bulldog badly she has already contacted a breeder who lives in town.

If you do decided to get another dog, adopt one from a shelter or rescue instead of a breeder. Hundreds of thousands of dogs are killed because nobody wants them. There are several bully rescues out there.

It should be against the law to breed dogs for profit.

I agree Batman every dog I have ever owned has been a rescue. .every dog.

I'm not ready for another dog but I'm not the only person who gets a say in my house.

I was told the next dog we get will be a puppy we have a reputable English Bulldog breeder who lives in my town. I normally would not do this but this breed is very expensive to maintain so good genetics is a must if I do this again.

My house is being puppy proofed as we speak she has taken Angus death hard and wants another EB to help take away the pain. This is normal.

This breeder has a litter due on Monday, the price is high but cheaper then say having a baby.

My dogs are rescues. I try to think that although my dogs will die, I can at least do my best to make them happy while they are around. Sometimes telling myself this works to get my mind out of the rut of thinking of their deaths and my prior dogs. Sorry for your loss

Sorry to hear JLD and I can sympathize. Losing my dog of 15 years today. We were going to have her put down Friday but my son wanted to come home from college and spend one last night with her this weekend.

They basically grew up together and she was by far the best dog I could have ever owned. We pretty much did everything together.  I don't think I have seen my son cry since he was a little boy but saying goodbye absolutely crushed him (and me). I always knew this day would come but you are never prepared for it and it really is gut wrenching.  I only hope I provided her half the joy that she provided me over the years.

    • okay I found this and it sounds like my hopes for the first surgery being not such a great job seems like it could be actual reality.  I only hoped because that would give a better chance for recovery and ia a possible scenario so I just thought it could be possible. Had no real evidence of it. But I’ll be damned.    This is a detailed report of Brooks’ surgery and the condition of his knee after the failed repair.     https://x.com/jmthrivept/status/2055743129408704806?s= Sparked by some very good questions by @CoachspeakIndex, here’s some info on Jonathon Brooks: 1. Speculation that the first graft/ACLR by Dr. Cooper didn’t “take” or at least was too lax, leading to failure and re-tear. Brooks dealt with issues cutting, progressing in his rehab into the early stages of 2024 and then re-tore it late 2024, requiring a second ACLR in January 2025 (essentially revision). Notably, CAR prolonged Brooks’ rehab process through Sept-Oct due to issues progressing into the next stages of rehab. 2. Second surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who has extensive experience with revisions. He did a double bundle technique, harvesting graft from Brooks’ left patellar tendon and a strip of his right IT Band (his right patellar tendon had been utilized for the prior graft in 2023. The double bundle technique significantly increases rotational stability of the knee, leading to a stronger and more secure graft/reconstruction. Also to note, Brooks’ surgery wasn’t significantly delayed, meaning that the tunnels from his prior ACLR were in good shape and they didn’t need to perform bone grafts to fill in (would have delayed 2nd surgery by 5-6 months). Essentially, reading the tea leaves tells me that everything else except for the graft itself was still in good quality within his knee. Good sign for future.  3. Typically, you see a performance increase anywhere from 16-20 months post-revision. Brooks will be ~21 months out from his second surgery by the time Week 1 hits. His knee should be more stable and stronger this time around, with adequate time for healing and return to all movement patterns. I’m not viewing this situation as a typical “Player __ had TWO ACL tears, he’s cooked” situation. Rather, I’m viewing it as the first procedure failed, but the second procedure is significantly stronger and should allow him to return to form this time around. I don’t know why it posted as a link but there it is.
    • Jackie, any more reps tomorrow, or is that it for this session?  thanks for the work
    • How can you say they aren’t trying to win now with all the moves made in free agency? Or is trading first round picks the only way to be win now? I’d be fine never trading another first round pick again, win now be damned.
