Eric Decker Going FA

Denver is going to let Decker test free agency. He's definitely not a #1, but would he be a consideration as a #2?

I think the Panthers should consider moving LaFell or another WR to the slot and make Ginn the legit #2.

we need to consider moving Steve to the slot . With help on the outside he would wear somebody outand prolong his career.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Broncos plan to let Eric Decker test the free agent market in March.

In other words, they won't be re-signing him ahead of March 11. Per RapSheet, the Broncos "view (Decker) as a No. 2," and with both Demaryius and Julius Thomas entering contract years, Denver isn't willing to commit No. 1-receiver money to Decker. The team's "hope" is reportedly that Decker will receive his best offer and give the Broncos a chance to match. Ultimately, we expect Decker to follow the money. He's the top wideout eligible to hit the open market.

There is an excellent play on words in this post.

I bet only panthro or sz get it. Worth a whole pie imo.

Points about Decker--Beware any WR whose resume features Manning as his QB--he makes average look good.

Where was he in the Super Bowl?  Seattle's CBs are good tests, and they showed he can be shut down as the #2 with 2 other good WRs on the field.

Decker would be an upgrade over Lafell

Maybe this is not the case, but when I hear Gettlemen praising King and McNutt, I tend to think there is a reason.  I think he is telling us that he is not re-signing Lafell and may not be able to re-sign Ginn.  Could he also be telling us that we have the WRs for the bottom of the WR Corps, and since Smitty is so old and small he is not a #1 any longer, so his focus is going to be on bringing in a true #1?

Imagine a top WR on the outside (not necessarily a free agent-could be a draft pick), Smith in the slot, and McNutt, King,etc..  Is that enough?  (assuming Ginn gets a deal elsewhere--I personally think we re-sign him)

My feelings about Decker are about the same as about Nicks.

If Gettleman thinks he's worth signing, cool. And if not, also fine.

Yeah agree w/ this - some team like the Raiders is prob going to throw a shitload of cash at these guys, too. I almost hope that these two guys are out of our price range. Both very talented guys but I don't know if I'd overpay for either one of them. we need more than just a WR and I don't think either one of them are legit #1 wrs.

    • Bryce has been in the NFL 3 years and still looks like a very mediocre QB. Most games are nothing but mediocre plays with a highlight reel every now and then.  He is a very INCONSISTENT QB and it’s very fustrating. He does not deserve a 5th year option, even though the Panthers and all the dumb asses in the front office will give it to him.
    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
