So how would you like this draft?

From Matt Miller at Bleacher Report (yeah, I usually don't like BR too much, but I've been following this guy through this year's Senior Bowl and he does a decent job).

1. Zack Martin, OT, Notre Dame

2. Kelvin Benjamin, WR, FSU

3. Louchiez Purifoy, CB, Florida

4. Craig Loston, SS, LSU

5. Aaron Colvin, CB, Oklahoma

6. Jernea Thomas, FS, Georgia Tech

7. Howard Jones, OLB, Shepherd

I'd take that draft home and hug it like a baby.

Now if I nit-picked, the way he has his draft set up, I would probably go TE Jace Amaro from Texas Tech with the 1st round pick and follow that up with OT Antonio Richardson from Tennessee with the 2nd round pick.  I like Zack Martin and he's a feel good story and all, but Miller describes his physical limitations.  Richardson doesn't have those limitations and I think has just as high a ceiling.  And, yes, I know picking Amaro has us not picking a WR in the first two rounds, but Amaro is a kid you can use as a "big" receiver but he can also run the TE routes in 2-TE sets.  I think I've made it clear I'm not a huge fan of the Shula offense and I think a valuable, big, fast TE would probably add more value to that offense than what is sure to be a lesser used guy like Benjamin (though I'd be thrilled with either).

It would be OK.

I don't know that Benjamin is going to be around in the second, so if you want him you'd probably have to pull the trigger in the first (not that I would do it at this point). I have my eye on Ju'Wuan James in the second because of his reported talent, motor and mean streak.  I don't know that Purifoy is going to last until our pick in the third, but I'd think about taking Keith McGill in his place, but would more than likely try to sneak McGill in the 4th. It would depend upon if Brandon Coleman is still on the board in the third, or some other WR like Abbrederis or Matthews. I'm also a proponent of getting Marcel Jensen, TE, who is reportedly a capable blocker in the later rounds.

I don't even know if i support taking a WR in the first or second round. Offensive big plays are for entertainment, solid run game and defense are for winning. I'll say get some good oline and a solid BLOCKING (not catching) TE and then CB. WR can go third or we can see what McNutt and the other guy can do and use the other picks for safety and some more Oline.

yeah not bad and would fill some needs. Still not as high on Kelvin Benjamin as everyone else seems to be - but it would fill a major need and would be a great value pick in the second. I don't see it happening but I would love to see us move up, get aggressive, and target a guy like Mike Evans or Sammy Watkins.

    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
    • Didnt Canales already say starters are playing in the pre season? either way extra reps dont hurt but im not one of those people that think playing in the pre season would have saved Bryce from an awful start.
    • very helpful.  I read back in this thread where they might try Jarvis at C--I thought he and Aho had good chemistry, however.  Nonetheless, he could expand his value there, and now we have a guy who can play jarvis' spot.  Freddie is a pro, no doubt--and as little as I know about the inner workings of strategy and positions, I could tell Burns was burning us at times.  I figured he'd retire and I was looking forward to it.  FWIW, they have Jarvis listed as a C on the 2025-26 roster.
