Ideas For Offensive FA signings

You couldn't break that crap up into different paragraphs to make it much easier to read?

JUST FOR YOU.....

Second part of my thread, concentrated on the offense, the need for a wide receiver is clear to everyone but the ability to pick up the right one is the problem, whilst saying a guy like Eric Decker would be a good signing, he will not only warrant good money after a solid season but he is also looking to be a teams #1 wideout and I as many do not think he holds that ability not for the money he would want.

Another guy again mentioned is Hakeem Nicks, Charlotte native and he has alot of talent but again alot depends on him realising he isn't a top tier receiver at this moments in time of his career ad he's is not deserving of a big contract, I believe any team that would sign Nicks would laden it incentive based after two average seasons of production, it's interesting also that Nicks base salary was almost similar of Brandon Lafells, Nicks two poor seasons aside he's far away a better and talented receiver that Lafell, so that's a suprise to me.

One name I have thrown in is Robert Meacham most will not like this but here's why, a big receiver who's got good hands and would be good for cam on all possible receptions, tons of experience that will help Cam also and possibly help the young guys we also draft, but consider this snagging Meacham could be a masterstroke, a signed secret agent from the Aints which with all his knowledge can't be a bad thing to get a few up on those guys.

The other area of need is the Oline, I believe Gross will be back for one more season whilst we look for his successor in the 2014 draft, the possibility to double dip is there on the Oline as it's draft class is deep, James Hurst a carolina Colege kid was graded a second round talent before going down injured and is now projected a fourth to fifth rounder, and there are other talented tackles in the draft all the way through five rounds, so I'm going to look at the possibility we only draft one, again I may be wrong, I'm just guessing but it is an obvious area and position of need, Byron Bell is back up at best so whether gross is switched over to RT and we draft a LT, we will need one and perhaps a good vet free agent.

Here's my ideas:

Wide Receiver: Hakeem Nicks, Emmanuel Sanders, Jerome Simpson, Robert Meacham, Andre Roberts.

OT: Geoff Schwartz, Tyson Clabo, Eric Winston, Anthony Collins.

Guard: Zane Beadles, Kevin Boothe, John Asomoah, Jeff Linkenbach.

These guys are again not big contract earners, comparing the lists to our players from last season on there, it does make you assume signing some of the players mentioned above would be better to bring in rather than resign some of our guys like Hangartner, Scott, Lafell and Hixon.

Just options guys some will obviously be resigned by there former teams but most will not also, I think there's a solid list of players we can bring in cheap enough to compile a very competitive roster this offseason even being hamstrung by this cap hell, gettleman knows talent so I expect him to find us better starters and depth players than the 21 we have currently listed as free agents, plus he has said free agency sets you up for the draft!

You don't draft for need you draft for future, again look through the lists and make your own minds up on players, but I was just trying to play GM for a moment and give some fans hope :)

oline, oline, oline, oline, oline

absolutely.

i'd love to have a WR come in and upgrade the corps (as well as draft one or two) but i really want the OL upgraded via FA so that we have guys who won't take a year or two to grasp the speed of the game and lose the roller skates under their feet.

that has to be a huge priority in FA.

WR Jerome Simpson is a name to watch. I got to play lots of football with him, and know him personally. He does have a record for dumb off the field mistakes (20lbs pounds of pot FEDEX) and a DWI this past year, but that could play into a one year deal. The kid has all the talent in the world, check out his highlight reel. He is a NC native, panther fan, and could come cheap.

I'm not up on all the free agent wr's on the market but I will say that G'man has his work cut out for him. Going off his recent comments about developing wr's and the time it takes you could infer that he would be looking for an established potential primary receiver. Problem is I don't see one on the market. Even if they were, our money is tight. So you have to draft one in our situation right? That is risky on so many levels even if a potential all pro falls into our laps on draft day. My guess he will look to sign/upgrade OL talent in FA and take a chance on WR in the draft, possibly 2 and a TE, assuming Williams isn't coming along like they hope. I'm basing my hypothesis on our cap situation because from that standpoint we get the most bang for our buck.

WRs I'd like to look at:

"Show me deals": Nicks, Britt, Maclin

"I think you could be somebody with us deals": James Jones, Jacoby Ford, Emmanuel Sanders

TE's I'd like to look at:

"Show Me" : Fred Davis, Dustin Keller, Ed Dickson.

OLine I'd like to look at.

LT: Gross (bring him back!!!)

G: ...... All these guys ---> http://overthecap.com/freeagents.php?Position=G&Year=2014

RT: Oher, Trueblood (meh), Some fat guy.

I really like Maclin and I really like Jones.  I don't know enough about Nicks to say one way or the other.

I think another vet WR would really help us, and I'd like to see that route in FA.

Obviously we need Oline help and I think we can get that in the draft, but if we got Oher I would be very happy.
