Complete Panthers Combine Preview

I just want to take every chance to remind people this is Dave Gettleman's second combine as GM ever. You have to say 2013 was a smashing success. We hit on 3 defensive players and picked up some others via undrafted free agency. We also scouted Travis Bond and Tavarres King and signed them later in the season. Some of our more radical Panther fans are convinced we will never draft an offensive player. This is only our second draft under a new regime and I can't wait to see how it pans out.

Yeah, I could end up looking foolish but judging from how The Giants have drafted in the past decade, I think the position will be filled via free agency and/or in the late rounds.

Everyone always talks about what the giants did while Gettleman was there but he was never the guy in charge when he was with the giants.  Maybe he would have gone with more OL in the first round, who knows.  Its hard to say.

I wanna see what we do in free agency before I'm ready to say that.

That's not going to give us any indication either way. Remember Gettleman's offseason philosophy: patch needs with FA's, draft BPA. Since we don't have a lot of cap, the FA's signed won't be big names. Our current need positions won't become positions of absolute strength after FA, so those positions are still 1st day draft options. You're better off watching the combine and doing mock drafts if you want to predict what we'll do.

@JeffRisdon Watched more Clemson over the last day. The gap between Sammy Watkins and any other WR is as wide as any since Megatron & Bowe in '07.

My son took off my glasses right as I started reading & the name registered as "@JerryRichardson" & I was all...

Valid point.

I'm not always big on predicting what we will do, mind you.  I tend more to talk about what I think we should do.

(those two things rarely match)

    • I turned to the NFL Network and they are playing the Wildcard Game against the Rams I think we gained a lot of respect around the league we hung in there for a while into the 4th Quarter 🙂
    • Does anyone know for sure if the game tonite will be on HBO max?  That is where I watched the last one and only access I currently have- I am in SE NC and no broadcast stations carry the games.😖
    • take a  look around the league at other young Qb's such as Drake Maye , Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix , CJ Stroud  & Caleb Williams who at the time like Bryce Young they also were drafted by teams with a losing record .the only difference with these Qb's is after joining their teams with a losing record they led those same teams to a winning record in a very short period of time .it's simply what you call a game changer & or elite Qb's & then take a  look at  the other side of the coin you have Qb's such as Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Justin Fields  & Anthony Richardson also like Bryce Young all first round picks who instead of winning either did not play or led their teams to a losing record while playing  Bryce Young who has an overall record of 14-30 & wildly inconsistent & never in the history of the NFL has a Qb 5'10" or shorter had a successful carrer as Qb in the NFL  if anything history is telling you exactly what ?..just saying
