Don't Expect a Discount From Hakeem Nicks... He Just Signed with Roc Nation as His Representation

109 Receptions

1588 Receiving Yards

These are stats from two receivers the last two years. One is Hakeem Nicks and the other is Brandon LaFell. If Nicks thinks he's gonna get a mega contract from somebody he is out of his mind. If someone gives Nicks a mega contract, they are out of their mind.

I'd like to have the guy here but the NFL is a "what have you done for me lately" type business, and you can only overpay so much for "potential" IMO.

it depends on who the player is . There are many in the NFL that are paid and going to be paid on potential.

He only gets big money from a team desperate to sign him.  There are going to a bunch of players that will be upset when they find out that this year will be worse than last year.  There will be a ton of guys hitting free agency.  He is not that great or worth that much money at this point.  If you had to chose between Hardy or Nicks only a UNC homer or a fool would go for NIcks.

If u sign with Jay Z all u want is money...sad and true

I dont really understand this logic.

Victor Cruz actually signed a modest contract.. Ended up settling for less than he thought he deserved, and probably less than he could have gotten elsewhere.  He said he took a home town discount.. so signing with Roc Nation means nothing when it comes to discounts.

Every agent only cares about money... That is their main purpose.. If I was a player who only cared about money, I would go to the agent who has the best track record for getting players paid.

Yeah, it's still a legitimate talent agency so I don't really think it changes much of anything.  Some agents are better than others but all agents worth their weight will fight for their client to get as much as possible.  As far as Nicks goes, his current value is lower than anticipated.  The NFL is a "what have you done for me lately" business and lately, Nicks hasn't done much of anything. I really don't think any smart organization would overpay for him.  I don't care if we get him either way.
