Seeing as how our WR situation is completely up in the air, I assume Avant deserves a look.

He's been a solid, reliable guy for years and wouldn't be surprised if we could get him cheap.

considering right now all we have under contract is smith (if he isn't cut or retires) and two practice squad guys, we need all the help we can get.

i would say a number 3 or 4 is a good place to start considering we  may very be starting over from scratch at WR.

I think we should go WR in 1st, BA, Cooks, Benjamin, Matthews, etc etc. Then sign 1 in FA, pref. Nicks but I'd be fine with Avant and then those are our #1 and #2, depending on how well each plays, and then move Smitty to the slot.

Cutting Avant to re-sign Cooper and Maclin is a very smart move. Avant is still a quality #3 WR.
