Draft day shocker - prediction

CRA

Recommended Posts

If someone posted DG's last draft the day before the draft....no one would have believed it. No one would have believed DT, DT, G, LB, RB.

No one would have believed his first real offseason to date either.

Now, I am not saying his choices are wrong but I do think he continues keeping the fanbase off.

I think DG will draft a DE and maybe a another RB. DG seems to extremely focused on the cap and long term winning. DE is spot he will need leverage and options and you find your RBs in the draft.

I think first round is a T. With him adding a 3 rd roundish WR.

That isn't what I want but my guess on how things play out

I think he will draft BPA regardless of position just like he has said all along and like he did last year. I don't know why folks keep saying he will draft a player at a specific round unless that happens to be BPA.

He also said he would fill needs through FA so that he could take BPA

BPA is always impacted by team specific factors. BPA varies team by team bc they all have different needs. Sometimes a BPA is so glaring you go true BPA but BPA is largely a team specific thing IMO.

He will take the BPA for Carolina. The for Carolina part is why we will look at things different than other teams.

I would be excited if we drafted a CB  (Denard, Verrett, Fuller) or a Safety, Pryor would be AWESOME! Shocker would be Kony Ealy or Louis Nix, i would scratch my head.  Dee Ford wouldnt even shock me as we could technically rotate him in with Hardy and let Hardy walk next year, or cut Johnson.  A top tier RB in the second round would not even be a shocker, as we are going to need one next year after we cut Deangelo and Stewart.  Basically i wouldnt be shocked with any picks unless its another DT, QB, or LB in the first.

I like Zach Moore at DE if we end up with one...which could wind up happening at some point in the draft.

We have to add wideouts so that's a given.  I think safety could be the surprise and we end up cutting Godfrey.  Maybe grab Buchanan, Reynolds, or Ladler.

I especially like Ladler because how integral he was in that defense both his junior and senior years.  He can also change-up at the safety spot.

I don't think there's a chance he drafts a RB in the first 4 rounds. Maybe, just maybe a DE if he's BPA and really high on his board.

I think the 5th or 6th rounds are great rounds for RBs. For most positions those are projects.... RBs IMO are an exception to that

At our pick i can't see how a WR or OL is not the top rated on our board because of the depth in this years draft.

Who knows though, some stud could slip at the Safety, CB position. This place would go absolutely bananas if we didn't draft a WR in the first two rounds.

and honestly i probably will too.

    • It goes deeper than that for me. When I started watching the Panthers as a kid I fell in love with Mark Fields’ story during that SB run. He wore #58. Then TD wore it and kept the tradition of the being the soul of the Panthers. The next time someone wears #58 I hope brings that same spirit
    • T-Mac is a nickname, Tet is a shortening of Tetairoa. Like you said below... your name is Jonathan, I could see "Jonny" being considered a nickname, but Jon isn't a nickname, it's a shortening of Johnathan, see the difference? And if your mom named you Jonathan for it's biblical significance/meaning, because she was very religious, I think it would be different. T-Mac is Polynesian, so much in their culture has deeper meaning for them, particularly names.  So for his mom to feel this way, I highly doubt it's just because she likes the name Tetairoa and not Tet, it's much more likely than not to be because the name itself has a deeper meaning in their culture.   Particularly as T-Mac himself has often talked about how much his Polynesian heritage means to himself and his family. And no, I'm not saying all this because of how much he's my guy, if he was just "normal american" and his name was Jonathan and he didn't like fans calling him Jon, I'd probably just say tough poo.  It's that he's Polynesian and I know things like names have a much deeper meaning in their culture than they do in ours for the most part. For whatever it's worth, a quick google search.......
