King and McNutt wont be punchlines for long.

I think I'm come to terms that McNutt will produce just as much as LaFell did last year as a #2 or 3 WR. I could see him becoming a poor mans Mushin Muhammad.

They both just need to get on the field - sucks they won't have OTA and Mini Camp to get some chemistry with Cam

I rewatched the Atlanta game today, it was a perfectly thrown ball. He really should've came down with both feet.

I don't have the time right now to find it (about to go to bed) but someone posted a college highlight video and most of all of his back end zone catches had only one foot in bounds. I've brought this up a few different times.

edit: just read through some of the posts.  not sure the the video posted in this thread is the same one.  i will look at it again tomorrow.

Did Mcnutt say he came in and we were 1-4??? Uh...

He wasn't suggesting what you are suggesting. Read the next couple lines.

And about the window thing from yesterday.

Cam was drafted to an old team. We didn't pull an Andrew Luck and gut the team and start fresh drafting talent, instead we signed major contracts to over-the-hill, injury prone players. We should have wiped out everyone, minus smitty on O and a few other choice players like the colts.

It sucks but Cam will be in his prime when all this gets sorted out, that's the good news. We still stick to the plan, start drafting talent for Cam to grow with while getting our cap situation under control.

We may go through some growing pains but it will be worth it and I still believe in this core being able to make the next few seasons fun to watch

Edit on the Mcnutt thing, just got it.

Oh my god.  Great catch...foot out of bounds.  Got one chance to play all season after joining the team late in the season.  Only the target of one pass.  Great catch...couldn't keep his feet.  He sucks because we know.

King looks very smooth as a route runner and fast . Mcnutt had a terrible QB from the catches he had to make, plus he still had a ton of yards and catches. It took Smitty a couple of years to get off KR duty and become a receiver with less natural talent and size....

Not really sure why people are down on these guys before they have even had a chance to show what they can do.

Because your drafted late doesn't mean your a bad player, obviously you lack something in your skillsets compared to higher drafted players but not necessarily meaning you can't convert college performance to the nfl, these kids come out of college raw, I see all the fapping about kelvin benjamin but if you look at scout reports on him he lacks route tree knowledge which will almost certainly set him back once drafted compared to more polished receivers like Watkins & Evans and he's projected as a first rounder.

Look Peyton Manning and John Elway were raving about this kid KIng in ore season saying how much potential he has. And Green Bay wanted him and look at what they know about receivers, mcnutt is more unknown to me, but he hasn't really had a chance to show what he can do, I think fans need to be more open minded and patient about these two players and give them a chance, from my point of view id rather roll with these two than a veteran receiver who's just coming to Charlotte for a payday.

Hasn't McNutt had a few chances, namely with two other teams when he couldn't make their roster?

Sent from the Carolina Huddle App

A chance is game time not sat on a practice squad or bought in for one snap! he was day dolphins don't think he saw the field much, doesn't mean he isn't any good, if DG says he's good then I take his word on it, people may criticise him for the smitty situation and lack of signings and whatever else since he's been here but he has pretty much hit a home run on all his signings in the draft and FA last year, I expect the same again this year, he knows talent more so than how to be a GM.

You sure did miss the logic--let me explain.

  • They did not come here knowing the playbook. No OTAs, No Camp, No preseason. it takes time to learn the system.
  • They are developmental players, meaning they may not be ready to play right out of college, but their skill sets are worth fine tuning. Running routes, getting off the jam, etc. some college players do not perfect things like that in college.
  • When the team is hot and in a playoff run, you do not give the developmental players game time as much as you would if the season were over (as it has been). Besides, nobody said McNutt and King were ready.
.

Oh.. I see now. These guys will be fine.
