Thoughts on melvin white

I was not. Very high on him last year. After the New England game he was pretty bad. I really hope I am wrong but I didn't see the player you are all saying. I think people are accepting of him because he was a UDFA. I was not confident at all going into the playoffs with him and Captsin. I just really hope I am proven wrong.

What is the idea of the rookie wall, the college season would have been over therefore the player just doesn't have enough gas to finish out the year? If that happened to our 2 rookie DT's which I think it did, how good is our line going to be next year? Wow.

Rookie wall is a conditioning thing as you alludes to. Star and Short benefitted from a strong rotation with Dwan and Cole, something CB's don't usually have the luxury of.

Star and KK should be better from a conditioning standpoint, but their biggest improvements should come from strength training, technique and knowledge/experience. When they get to the point they can just play and not think thru everything they'll have the potential to be even more disruptive.

More like opponents get enough film to expose things one used to get away with.

So all of a sudden the rookie feels he is doing everything like he use to but it is not working anany more, so it gets to his head (on top of the know how to expose him is out).

I dont know that CB is a huge need for us anymore....just an awakening that I had.

This is my thought process to a degree, and was kind of along the lines of what I was saying from the beginning.  Cason provides us a 1 year flier, and I have high hopes he will perform very well and White will be fine on the other side.  This will allow us to go double up on either WR or Oline in the drafts first 3 rounds.  This doesn't mean to ignore it all together, because someone has to step into White/Cason's role a year from now, so you can look at CB in the 4th or 5th and groom them for next year.

Gettlemen is awesome.

Reason # 15:  Melvin White.

(Credit goes to the scouting department here, but they work for Gettlemen--what a find. Our defensive secondary was in shambles and we do not draft a DB--but we find a starting CB and a good backup SS in the undrafted free agent pool.)

last season i dont ever recall hearing his name even though he started a lot and for a cornerback i hear not having your named called is a good thing. I remember seeing captain being beat a lot but not white. I don't know what the feelings are about him here but is he a solid starter for us for years to come or not?

Melvin White is a solid starter, and we should pair him up with Stanley Jean Baptiste 6'-3" 218lbs from the draft. Melvin & Baptiste can play outside with Cason in the slot. This would give us a balanced defense with Height and Athleticism to compete in the 2014 season playing Pass heavy  AFC & NFC north along with the NFC South.

Upcoming # 1&2 WR/TE

WR: Megatron | Julio Jones | Marshall | Jeffery | White | Jackson | Nelson | Gordon | Brown | Smith |

TE: Graham | Cameron |

:rr:

This play shows how good this kid could be. Defense is in man coverage, he goes with Nicks down field, turns his head and reads Manning, peels off of Nicks to come back and pick off the pass to Cruz who has Munnerlyn beat by two steps. It wasn't even his play to make and he makes a huge play anyway. Brilliant play for any player to make, much less an undrafted rookie. Kid has major upside. When the game slows down for him he can be a very good starting corner.

Mitchell called that play to Melvin. Mitchell recognized the play.

    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
    • I don't really care about your post at all. I just saw the direction of the discussion and this snippet from an article I read earlier in the day was a good spot to put non-Panthers info. I mostly don't care about the players personal lives. That's off the field/personal poo. Not really any of my business.  I also don't know him personally so what would be the point of congratulating him outside basically attempting to draw attention to myself like so many in the social media/internet realm.
