Wharton leaning towards retirement

The Colts perennially made it to the playoffs building around Manning and ended up with a Super Bowl ring.  How many Lombardis are in the Panthers' trophy case?  Since '05 we're 0-2 in the playoffs.  0-1 under Gettleman.

Omg youre not kidding are you? You're dead serious. ok, well lets see if 7th grade logic can get through to you...

1) in the first sentence, you completely disregard the fact that Peyton lost in the playoffs for 6 straight seasons because he "EVENTUALLY" got a ring

2) in the last sentence, you complain about someone being 0-1 in the playoffs (in their first year after taking over a struggling team)

reading is hard huh?

If you think the Colts are an example of how not to run a franchise, you're even dumber than I thought.  Since 2000, they've only missed the playoffs twice.  One of those years was because Manning was on IR.

I only mentioned the 0-1 record because you were so adamant that the Colts lacked playoff success.  I simply wanted to point out to you that not only have we demonstrated a lack of success getting to the playoffs, we've also demonstrated a recent lack of success in the playoffs when getting there.

The Colts have been one of the perennial best teams in the NFL since Manning was drafted.  I'd say they did a lot right.  Perfect?  Certainly not, but pretty damn good.

I wish people will stop using money as an excuse because that's all it is. If you want to sign a player you can. If money is going to continue being excuse then you can say signing Greg Hardy was irresponsible because he's currently occupying over half the money we had going into free agency.

I love how you defend your opinion, with stating that keeping a core player is irresponsible.

Say what?  How in the hell would you argue that Nicks and Decker AREN'T proven???  Nicks had an awful year, but the contract he signed was evident of that.  It's not like the guy got a truckload of guaranteed money.

Jericho Cotchery and Tiquan Underwood... LOL!

I find it pretty funny how so much of our fanbase is all of a sudden looking down their noses at other NFL franchise like we're the Steelers or Packers or something.  I hate to break the news to you, but aside from last year the Panthers have been one of the worst teams in the NFL in recent years.

I sure hope Gettleman knows what he's doing in the long-run, but I've never seen a team take a QB #1 overall and then seemingly refuse to build an offense around him.  But, who knows... maybe we'll spend damn near our entire draft on offense.

Even when you make good, well thought out, comments, you still come off angry?

The only point I take umbrage with is how you down play our recent run. We have pretty much been the model of mediocrity. It is an art form to look like you are building a winner. When in actuality, you are just having the time of your life while it lasts.

We were never, well, that jimmay year, bottom barrel bad. We just knew how to take perceived strength, and turn it into failure. Enough good moves to get a fan excited, backed by screwy moves to deflate said excitement.

We have a new sheriff in town boys. Gonna clean this mess up. Straighten everything out. Keep us pointed on the straight and narrow.

For the 3rd post in a row, im going to challenge your reading ability because for the 3rd post in a row you're very passionate about something I NEVER said.

I never said the "colts way" was right or wrong. I simply said doing nothing but surrounding your QB with talent and thus ignoring the defense got them kicked out of the playoffs 6 straight years. Obviously, in a perfect world, we would love to have 22 hall of fame players out there for every game, but thats not realistic. So who cares HOW you make the playoffs? We made it because of our defense. So did the Seahawks (did you notice how their season ended?). So did the 2007 Giants that Gettleman was a part of. So again, i don't know why you are having such a difficult time comprehending the words you read.

Playoff records

Colts with Manning: started 0-3

Panthers with Cam & Getts: 0-1

Maybe we go on to win 6 super bowls, maybe we win 0. who knows. but stop acting like surrounding Cam with OK receivers (while we are in a transition-rebuilding year and attempting to save cap and build for the future) means anything.

I sure hope youre not considering Nicks & Decker as "proven". The only big-name proven WR that hit the market was DJax. And thank christ we didnt mortgage parts of our future on him. Theres a reason he was available for so long and no one bit except for 1 of the 2 most desperate and mis-managed teams of the last 20 years

He was available for like two days.  People didn't trade for him because he had a wacky contract.

First off, he was a free agent for 5 days

you don't think that matters? Smitty was a free agent for less than one day. If Megatron got released, he wouldn't make it to the bank and back before he got picked up. Same for D.Thomas, AJ Green, etc.

If you're in high demand, you don't sit there for almost a week with only a few teams interested

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
