Is Deangelo Williams a multiple 1000 yard all pro running back if he was never paired with stewart

I was recently looking at his stats and i noticed that if he was the feature back and we had no one behind him he would have eclipsed 1000 yards every year he's been a panther. I think the view of him would be completly different if stew had never been in the picture.

His career YPC used to be in rarified company until a year or two ago. I'm talking only one of 3 or 4 RBs in history of the universe with a 5+ YPC career average. So probably, yes.

It was always a cherry picked stat....

Lots of RBs have had badass ypc numbers if you cherry pick the window/criteria

That isn't a Williams knock....but it is one of the reasons people almost turned him into some mythical RB that wasn't quite as good as many pimped

He needs a good Online. But who doesnt

Stu, he had the best yards after contact in the league in 2012.

1000 yards for a back that gets every non garbage time carry is not that great.

But the problem is not what stu or deangelo are doing our not doing. The problem is that we could afford two all pro guards plus two decent backs for what they are being payed.

I wil say NO because Stew hardly gets on the field. I thinks it has more to do with the Oline and limited Wr threat on the outside. Dwill to me is an above average RB, i don't think he will fair better playing for the Seahawks or Minnesota

    • so.....the entire second round is essentially holding out for guaranteed contracts.  Seems like it is stuck w/ Judkins and Emmanowori being the 3rd and 4th picks of that round and whatever slow trickle down does or doesn't produce from them.
    • This is always a non-story by the time camp begins.
    • I've really only begun to pay attention this week being that training camp is looming, so I was personally caught off guard by the fact that Nic Scourton remains unsigned. That's not necessarily bad news, but it's not necessarily good news either. Apparently it's a thing with this year's draft class. "Of the 32 players selected in the second-round, 30 remained unsigned and the clock is ticking. "Already we've seen one second-round pick hold out from the start of training camp with that player being Los Angeles Chargers' wide receiver Tre Harris. Harris did not report with the rest of the Chargers' rookies on Saturday due to his contract situation, a issue that could impact nearly every other team in the league. "For the Panthers, defensive end Nic Scourton is the player to watch for when rookies start showing back up to the team facilities next week. "The 51st overall pick is one of the 30 second-rounders who has yet to sign their rookie contract and the reason why is due to the other two that have actually signed. "Cleveland Browns' linebacker Carson Schwesinger and Houston Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins each signed fully guaranteed contracts as the first and second players drafted in the second-round. Prior to this year, second-round picks never received a fully guaranteed deal, only players selected in the first-round." https://atozsports.com/nfl/carolina-panthers-news/panthers-nic-scourton-contract-second-round-pick-training-camp-hold-out-tre-harris/ So, I suppose we'll see what's what pretty soon. It's definitely something to monitor.
