  1. Past hour
  2. Tepper hires consultants. He just ignores their recommendations because he knows better. The best thing for the team is to let it crash and burn. There's no way to save this season and bring in some street scrub only to win 1 or 2 games max is detrimental to building a better roster. Suck it up buttercup.
  3. I swear to god every time I think of this it makes me want to lisan al gaib BoA stadium
  4. Posted this in 2021. Seems like it's still true today (tl;dr; "it starts with the owner") holding out hope that the appearances of Tepper being hands-off the football operations recently are accurate and that Dan/Dave are doing the best they can - with all the resources they can - to right the ship that they were given
  5. I wish people would stop commenting on trading for a QB. NO. If we get another QB it will likely be via Draft. Regardless, won't happen until off-season. No need to trade for someones backup that will likely give us similar if not worse results, in an attempt to win games that you will all complain about us winning come draft time. Let this season play out no matter how ugly it gets. Jay Z needed 30 years to do something and so will we or however the saying goes.
  6. I posted this under another top (Morgan's drafts), but it applies here. I don't know if the problem is our scouting department, the front office, or both. What has become apparent is that our team is terrible at drafting. Every round we seem pass on players who could fill hole in our roster in favor of players who contribute NOTHING on the field and are often out of the league before their first contract expires. Are the scouts providing good intel but being ignored? Are they giving bad intel and the FO is going on their recommendation? Tepper needs to hire a consultant who is knowledgeable of the game and have him do a top to bottom examination of our personnel department and find out why are arguable the worst drafting team in the NFL. Why do we pass on players who excel in the league for garbage players who probably couldn't even make most rosters in the NFL as backups.
  7. there was a honeypot of talent at the end of first/top of 2nd and we took at 3rd round talent at best in a trade up lol Ladd, Frazier, Sainristil, DeJean, there was a lot
  8. A deep dive into some advanced analytics to demonstrate just how truly horrible Bryce Young actually is. Really brings into question what kind of organization would keep trying to push this guy as an NFL player, let alone a franchise QB/starter. This find is courtesy of @frankw , who shared it in the MMF thread last night. And boy, is it damning. https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/analysis/nfl-week-1-recap-bryce-young-panthers/ Bryce Young completed only 51% of his passes for 4.4 YPA in Week 1. The only QBs who were worse were a rookie starting vs one of the best defenses in the NFL (Cam Ward) and Russell Wilson behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. Even if you remove the interceptions, Young ranked #28 in success (32%) and #25 in EPA per attempt (-0.24). If we just want to look at the simplest of passes, those thrown five air yards or less, Young completed just 56% of attempts (#29) with a 13% success rate (#29), -0.54 EPA per attempt, and a mere 2.8 yards per attempt (#27). This was despite playing most of the game in garbage time on account of his terrible early game performance putting his team in a 20-3 deficit at halftime. The Jaguars defense kept things very vanilla for Young. They didn’t blitz on nearly 80% of dropbacks and played no blitz zone on 72%, the #4 highest rate any quarterback faced. Young wasn’t even pressured often, taking pressure on just 28% of dropbacks thanks to how soft the Jaguars played him. Keep in mind, this Jaguars pass defense ranked #29 in the NFL last year. If we try to throw out garbage time entirely, I looked at QB performance in the first half when not pressured. Out of 30 qualifying QBs in Week 1, Young ranked: Dead last in EPA (-0.60) Dead last in success rate (20%) Dead last in Y/A at 3.6 Dead last in passer rating at 27.5 How are you averaging just 3.6 Y/A on unpressured dropbacks in the first half of a game? Thinking back to that halftime deficit, I’m reminded of this stat: The Panthers led at halftime in three of Young’s 12 starts last year. They are now 0 for 1 this year. In his 29 career starts, the Panthers have led at halftime in 5 of 29 (17%). Since 2000, there have been 37 QBs to start at least 25 games in their first two years in the NFL. Young is the ONLY QB to lead at halftime in fewer than six of his starts. Young is the ONLY QB to lead at halftime in fewer than 20% of his starts. So many people were backing Young based on the super small sample at the end of the year when they thought he played better, and he did play moderately better. But even in those games, he delivered average stats against the NFL’s easiest schedule of pass defenses to close the year, with every opponent ranking 20th or worse. There’s never been a QB who rebounded from performance like Young delivered in his first couple of years to go on to become a franchise quarterback. Some stay around as a journeyman, but they don’t lead teams. The Panthers put all their eggs in the Young basket this offseason. The Panthers were the darlings to win the NFC South by many. Yes, it’s only one game, and there certainly are opportunities to improve. But Dave Canales has now had two full offseasons to work with Young. He should know Young’s strengths and weaknesses and figure out how to optimize Young’s performance. What pivot do we have after that Week 1 performance? Surely Canales tried to use his best stuff in Week 1, and it failed miserably. The schedule is soft, but the clock is ticking, on both Young and this coaching staff if they don’t figure out a solution quickly. This experiment should’ve ended after his rookie year, no matter the investment. But really, the pick should’ve never been made, as myself and many others here have lamented even before the pick was made, but there’s nothing we can do about that now. It’s more insulting with every week they continue to trot him out there to not only start, but to play at all on an NFL field.
  9. Not sure about cleaning house but if things continue going the way week one did I suspect several of the staff will have a lot of free time over the upcoming holiday season. Some might want to go ahead and get that Halloween costume as they sell out fast.
  10. I don't know if the problem is our scouting department, the front office, or both. What has become apparent is that our team is terrible at drafting. 11. when in the hell was bryce top ten in anything how tortured is the dataset to reach that conclusion? Surely it doesn't include the second Bucs game or the Dallas game.
  12. Hopefully. My only hope under him is falling backwards into success. First he has to suffer through another season of what he built.
  13. How about the underthrown ball to Renfrow that could have possibly been a score? I'd have to go back and watch, which I will not do, but he had several bad throws.
  14. I would rather just have a draft pick. I'm not trading one bad qb for another.
  15. Without any real effort those 1st 3 picks could have been Ladd McConkey - WR Zach Frazier - C Blake Corum - RB 2 difference makers and a highly ranked RB if we had still wanted to go that direction. It was so simple and it was hard not to screw up, yet....
  16. This is where I'm at. He's shown that he can be good. He's also shown he can be very...not good (he's kinda like Revelation 3:15 at this point) Bottom Line: Unless he can be consistently good for more than just the back half of a wasted season, it's not gonna matter.
  17. Still time to walk this thread back. I ain’t settling down until Tepper sells or leaves.
  18. Red flag went up for me when Canales publically passed on Russell Wilson. What better way to push Bryce than the SB veteran who put this coach on the map, has a comparative style of play, and believes he's still got it. He probably would have rejected having to fight for a starting role but the fact that Canales didn't even consider his guy tells me there was an order from up top to clear the runway for Young.
  19. Clearly Canales/Morgan experiment might be coming to an end. Not only Canales failed to establish the culture change he promised, he also struggles with play calling, game reading, and in game adjustments. The team always seem unprepared and play execution is terrible. Morgan, who promised us dawgs, got us pugs. He failed to bring correct talent in or identify gaps in squad. Panthers had a massive issue with run defense and pass rush last season, after spending a ton of money on free agents and draft, Panthers have massive issue with run defense and pass rush this season again. If the Panthers finish bottom of the league this season and have top 3 pick in NFL draft, I do not see how we can bring a rookie QB into a failing culture and expect him to be successful.
  20. It's looking like smart fantasy players without an elite TE should just stream whatever TE is facing the Panthers.
  21. Relax........and then go find something else to do than waste your time on this franchise in its current state.
  22. If I remember correctly Jake Delhome was sitting on his couch when the Panthers gave him a call .The difference is Jake the fire in his belly to be great . Not so much talent but a will to win . Bryce may be smart but has no will to win and no one to kick his butt to be better .
  23. Shout outs to the former Huddler's all-22 being quoted in the article! idr his name on the Huddle, but Taco from Pantherscord/Twitter knows ball.
  24. He didn't play as bad as it looked live but still not like a #1 pick in his 3rd year should. Getting tired of the idea that the supporting cast isn't good enough and everything has to be perfect for him succeed. These are the best athletes in the world, the other team has talent too. Not every match up is won, you have to make do with it. Cam, Delhomme, Moore, Steve B, even PJ Walker would have owned the Jaguars Sunday.
  25. Worse arm and vision but better runner with nothing in front of him.
