The Ealy picks a good pick. 

 

It's obvious he's insurance against CG or Craken. 

 

More than likely, Gettleman will cut Johnson, take the cap hit, and slide Ealy's relative low salary into the sliver of a slot that's left. Then, if/when he signs Kraken he'll lower his salary the during the CJ Cap hit, then increase it after (if he doesn't take a high bonus, or combination of both). 

 

Of course, he could do the opposite, if he can't sign Kraken. But I think they want Kraken, and would rather cut CJ if Ealy is good. 

 

Gettleman knows what he's doing.
