Receivers Wide Open

I think having the likes of Smith and Moose here for so long and Walls in the 90s makes people feel uneasy about the open competition.  It's been a while since we didn't really know what we have at the position.  I think it's perfectly fine and kinda the fresh reboot we need at the position.

I'm going to enjoy this a ton this season rather than if we strapped ourselves to one of the sought after vets in the FA who weren't all that great.

Someone will emerge from the group alongside KB and you know what you get with Avant and JC.  (*I'm rooting for King)

This will make the offseason moving forward competitive and interesting which is good for everyone.

So I'm not going to bitch about the tight cap or the off season FA's, I like the direction we are taking and look forward to beating the West with a balanced offensive attack and Tenacious D ...

This statement alone deserves more pie... Extra for actually using the name in a sentence...

Just because, NSFW.....

on topic: The open competition bodes well for the team. Similar to what lola said, especially because the media, etc is sleeping on us, not giving our WRs a 2nd thought... Cmon September 7...

I thought the Panthers were one of the better redzone teams last season?

FootballOutsiders backs this up....

As does SB Nation....

But SportingCharts says Cam was in the bottom 10 in RZ QB rating...

Yeah they were.

However, there was a stretch in the second half where they were less efficient (as a lo of younger QB's were). Plus, everyone remembers the San Fran game where the Panther couldn't take advantage of Red Zone opportunists.

panthers were 19th in the league last season, TD percentage in red zone, at a shade over 52%. that was down 7% from the season before.

unless i'm missing something i don't see where your first link specifically relates to red zone offense.  not sure what your 2nd link is about as it is from march 2009.

    • Nobody on the huddle is saying we have an elite group offensively across the board. They aren't great. They're young. If you are expecting someone to agree with your position of blaming everyone around Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career you are going to be left holding the bag save for a handful of people who act like they are paid to defend his honor. Bryce Young is not a guy who has had to claw and fight his way into starting jobs in football. He's had the best to work with and been gifted roles since he was a teenager. The Panthers have one of the youngest rosters in the league and with us needing an infusion of young defensive talent in the upcoming draft we're only going to get younger. We need a QB who possesses the ability to elevate those around him. If you can't agree with me on that then there's nothing further to discuss.
    • All Bryce and the Panthers had to do was split with the Saints and a rookie QB. The bar was so low. They even had a whole bye week to prepare. The time for singing kumbaya was before that game. Anyone still talking about Bryce earning a second contract 43 games into his career is living a fantasy. He might get one from the Tepper owned Panthers but he's damn sure not earned it.
