Pros and Cons of our 2014 schedule

PROS

-No team has a bye week before playing us (no team has a bye week before playing the Falcons either), while both the Saints and Bucs have two teams with bye weeks before playing them. The two teams with bye weeks before playing the Saints have them in the two straight weeks before we play the Saints in New Orleans, wearing them out for us (Saints host Ravens for MNF with Ravens coming off bye week before Saints play @Pittsburgh six days later with the Steelers coming off a bye week, then the Saints host us). The Bucs also have to play back-to-back games against teams coming off bye weeks: Falcons then @Redskins

-we get 14 days to prepare for @Minnesota, while they only get 7

-we get 11 days to prepare for our MNF game @Philadelphia, while they only get 8

-we get 7 days to prepare for Lions in BOA, while they only get 6

CONS

-we get 6 days to prepare for the Falcons at BOA, while they get 7

-we get 7 days to prepare for Steelers at BOA, while they get 10

OTHER GAMES OF NOTE

-the Bucs and us both get 10 days to prepare for each other for the season opener @Tampa

-the Saints and us both only have 4 days to prepare for each other for Thursday Night Football at BOA

what else?

As someone who occasionally dabbles in sports betting, some teams (coaches) are better at taking advantage of extra practice and scouting days. Some work better on a less varied, more structured schedule.

Guess which category Rivera falls into?

I would never bet against the Panthers but I also would never take them week 1 or after a bye.

Team looked like poo 2 years ago in Tampa week 1

Our schedule is tough due to opponents, but I was screaming for joy the day our schedule came out and still am.

The Seahawks @1 PM EST the week after the @Rams DL wears them down is fantastic.

Staying home for those four days while the Saints have to travel is fantastic.

Not have to go to Green Bay or Cincy in the bitter cold is fantastic.

Playing @Minnesota makes no difference. We are simply a much better football team, our front 7 can handle Peterson, and their young weapons (Paterson, Rudolph, and vets Jennings and Simpson) will have Cassel or the physically weak rookie Bridgewater throwing to them in the cold in Mike Zimmers new passing offense. We should win that football game on paper. Easily.

The ONLY thing that sucks, IMHO, is opening and closing on the road.

Play in Minnesota November 30th... Could be ugly outside and then those games are usually a toss up

should be between 10°F and 40°F, likely freezing, with a 14% chance of snow and winds in the 5 to 15 mph range.

Avg temp for Nov 30 in Minneapolis:

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
