Wow.... Ealy is suprising. If you want to develop the kid, put him in there against some competition. He wont get much riding the pine.

We shouldn't damage our team just to get some young kid in the game for experience, especially when we are a team that can contend for the playoffs, it'd be different if we were bottom feeders. That is what training camp and the preseason is for.

If the coaching staff doesn't think Ealy has earned a spot over Addison and Horton, two very good backup DEs in our scheme (especially Addison), then I don't think we should force the situation. It was always expected us drafting Ealy was more for the future for if/when Hardy leaves.

I like that our defensive line has gotten so good we can afford to not rush our 2nd round pick into the game. We all would like to see Ealy contribute right away but that isn't always the case. We saw it with Charles Johnson in 2007 (only played in 3 games) and Greg Hardy in 2010 - both of those guys are now top 5 4-3 DEs.

Brockel is a situational blocker/special teamer.

Brandon Williams can be a real weapon in this league right now. He's bigger, faster, stronger and now meaner than most players he lines up against. He doesn't just block you, he manhandles you.

The only advantage Brockel may have over Swole is experience. So, yeah let's not give him any experience because he doesn't have any experience - makes perfect sense.

Brandon can do anything Richy can, and probably better. Except play FB. And in our scheme, that gives Richy the edge.

Williams has very little experience on special teams.  While he may be powerful, special teams requires a team that doesn't make mistakes.  They are going to trust Brockel more.

Hoov was a one of the best in the game....and they are almost nonexistent now. RBs in today's NFL don't need a blocking FB....offense can stress a D a little more out of a different set

Peterson and Charles both have good FBs to run behind. But there is an obvious transition in the NFL on a lot of teams where there are more single back sets. Neither Stewart or Tolbert require a FB to be successful but a guy like DW does.
