The Observer: Panthers Should Suspend Hardy Now

It's just crazy that the media has pretty much convicted Hardy even though his real trial has yet to take place. Of course I don't know about the 49ers situation with their player, but for anyone who followed the Hardy trial (and Schefty definitely followed that trial. It was because of his comments about it as it was going on, that I decided to follow it instead of waiting for a verdict the next day), should know just how outrageous Holder's story is. Yet the media is not going to point that out at all. So along with not giving Hardy due diligence, they have pretty much ignored everything about the case. It's one thing to mention Hardy has an ongoing trial concerning domestic violence, it's another thing to keep harping on a judge finding him guilty. So what is the media going to do if the jury finds him not guilty? Would Hardy be able to sue the media for libel?

So he is going to sue the media bc they state a fact?

They are presenting it as though he is guilty of the crimes he's accused of.  That is doing reputation to his name.  If he is found not guilty in the jury trial, you can't undo the damage to his name.  Even when people point out his pending trial, they immediately harp on him being found guilty and should be punished for the crimes.

He wouldn't be appealing if he wasn't already facing a guilty verdict. That is just a fact. Maybe he wins his appeal but stating present day reality is just what it is

I don't know if Hardy is guilty of woman beating or not, and basically only two people really know the truth.  But he is guilty of being stupid.  And in the court of public opinion, it does not matter if one is guilty of not.  It only matters what people think.  Whatever happened that night, Hardy was not using common sense and at the very least put himself in a bad situation with this crazy chick.  This 'stupidity' could become a disruption & a distraction to the Panthers and they may decide he is not worth it.  If this happens, 'it is what it is' and the next man up (Addison, Ealy, Horton, and Alexander).  And if this happens, what a waste of $13M.
