FiveThirtyEight's newest ELO rankings/% for playoffs

The newest ELO rankings by FiveThirtyEight are out, along with the % chance to make the playoffs/win the division for all teams in the NFL. 

 

 

As you can see, we're currently 0001 point ahead of the Saints in ELO ranking, with a predicted ~8 wins to finish the season. We're also at a 45% chance to win the division (only Detroit at 39% has a lower chance), and a 49% chance to make the playoffs (the lowest of all current division leaders).

If we can come out of the next 8 games at .500, winning 3 of the last 4 is highly doable (3 division foes and the Browns). 9-7 may win the crown in the NFCS this year, especially if we can take care of bidness and go 5-1 or so in the South.

Interesting. How do they calculate the ELO for the football teams? I thought that was mainly a chess/LoL thing?
