I didn't see it and came into the game in the middle of the 1st. I thought it was a legit kick return- not that piece of poo

Hold on now...Chicago player hit him before the ball was there and he was smart enough to cover the ball and not quit until the whistle blows. So how is this a poo play?

I loved the return, but realistically, he should have been more aware and called for the fair catch. This was amazing, and GREAT awareness to get up and get the ball, but him bobbling every other punt is dangerous. It's gonna hurt us if he doesn't get it sorted out.

For those calling for us to replace him, the answer can't be on the roster, or he would be replaced. He's the best we got, and signing a guy JUST to return punts is not our best option right now. We stick with him and hope he gets it sorted. Hell, it's his only real job right now.

This is about him as a returner. Not WR

i was responding to amcoolio...browns career is already more productive than pilhares, edwards, and robinson etc...so condemning him as a bust as those guys all were is incorrect to me. he's just not a good return man

Hm, odd.

The official rulebook (I have no idea what you linked) says this:

Well, multiple times I have seen the kicking team touch the ball, and then the receiving team picks it up and runs with it. See below:

http://www.timesrecordnews.com/sports/columnists/illegal-touching-adds-options-to-a-kick-return

Play One — After punting from its own 40-yard line, a kicking-team player touches a rolling football at the opponent's 20-yard line. The rolling football is scooped up at the 18-yard line by an opponent, who carries the football to the 38-yard line, where he is hit and fumbles. The kicking team recovers the football at the 41-yard line. What is the result of this play?

Answer — Because of the violation for illegal touching (when the kicking team is the first to touch the kicked football beyond the line of scrimmage), the receiving team retains possession at the spot of the illegal touching. It is first-and-10 for the receiving team at the 20-yard line.

While the violation gives the receiving team a "free" chance to advance the football, this privilege is canceled if there is a live-ball penalty enforced on either team.

it wasn't a legit return based on every other return he has had.. he has fumbled 2 of them and fair caught one where he had a great chance to advance it into their territory.. he has looked shaky/scared when he is back there.

this punt return, however great it was, it was still a fluke..

Like I said, mine came from the NFL rulebook. Either way, whatever it is you quoted said this:

There was a live ball penalty.
