Rivera: " couldn't find a left tackle to fit what we do"?

Per J.Person. Rivera claims they looked outside the organization for a left tackle but couldn't find one that fits what they do. I have no idea what that means or what exactly they do, besides getting the QB smashed. Don't tell me there isn't one guy out there that "can't do what they do". Just a ludicrous statement. Also said that Amini would have played left tackle if healthy.....oh boy.

"couldn't find a Tackle that was good enough to play that wouldn't hurt the cap next season"

Not only that but there just aren't teams lining up to trade their starting tackles, and there aren't any teams with backups that should be starters. Tackles aren't a dime a dozen in this league. We really had no options other than the guys we have.

There isn't a guy out there we could've easily gotten, and have it being worth it, that's any better than Bell.

Running backs are a dime a dozen, and that's where our money is tied up.

Oh the irony.

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
