Florio: Naive to think FO unaware of Avant's comments before his release

Florio not only said someone knew, but he himself criticized Rivera's chicken poo play calling at the end of the game, and in a way Florio used that failure to mock anyone's misguided belief (Rivera included) that the Panthers are the masters of their own destiny because when the opportunity arose to take the bull by the horns, Rivera shied away from the moment. He did basically say that we could always get lucky, but that Rivera's moment was then.

You know, Huddle, at this point someone is taking Panthers' fans for fools.  I know Avant didn't mean much of anything to the offense (for what I consider mismanagement from the top), but he was a stand-up guy and obviously the only veteran that had the kahunas to say anything. I am not crying for Avant because he'll likely end up in a better position, but the FO must believe that they can shoot the fans anything and we will accept what they say on face value.  It's a bit insulting.

You think that either of the Mikes---Mike Pettine or especially Mike Tomlin shot their fans a load of poo, saying they didn't know about Ben Tate's or LeGarrette Blount's words, respectively?  And the thing is, their players were just unhappy with playing time. Avant was preaching the gospel truth.

In before the blind faithful of this team jump to the defense of the ultra-rich and powerful and start name-calling Florio without any basis in fact and say he knows nothing about football although he has probably three times the education of 98% of this message board's population.

After the Ben Tate and Blount issues with their respective teams, anyone who believes Avant's words weren't of any consequence is far too naive to even try to convince otherwise.

This statement says quite a lot:

"...Panthers are the masters of their own destiny because when the opportunity arose to take the bull by the horns, Rivera shied away from the moment."

because not showing up to games is exactly what players want to see in a fanbase when considering to re-sign here or come here in free agency

ownership has already made their money and coaches aren't getting fired because fans do or don't show up (they get fired for winning and losing games)

...like I said before...who do they think they are relaying this info to, Helen Keller?...just blatant lies...despicable liars on many fronts that are not as evident as this..

And honestly that's because most panthers fans are fools and have been historically. They'll eat any crap product JR shoves in their face. That doesn't mean anybody here. No matter what ground you stand on in this forum, I'm pretty sure at some point in the last few years everybody has asked for something more from this product. But we represent a small minority of Panther fans, rare as we may be. I think it's safe to say there are some fans who put the fact that we suck solely on Cam and don't even know who Ron Rivera is. And at the end of the day you, me, madhatter, fiz (rip), phillyb, and so many more posters that come from a diverse range of views that agree that Ron and his crew of flunkie underlings need to go are going to get drowned out by people who basically think "that thurr cam newton needs to go cuz he sawks hueheheuuhehuehue" and nothing's going to happen at the end of the year. We'd be incredibly lucky to see Shula being given his walking papers.

    • Baker was traded before he played his 5th year.  RGIII was cut before playing his 5th year. So it is rare but it happens.
    • Time to hit 4000 yards and 30 TDs (including rushing). I don't care about INTs anymore. That's a big part of the problem. He plays uber conservative until the game is on the line. Playing not to lose, instead of playing to win. Time to let it friggin rip from the get. The team can win with a pick or 2 if he has 3-4 TDs. Stop playing scared.  But to be fair, his WRs have not been great. You all can bash about 1st round picks and O-line cap all you want.  Chuba as your #1 RB his entire career.  Adam Thielen as your best WR for 2 of 3 seasons is ridiculous. Then a rookie as your best in the 3rd season. Legette is not a 1st round talent. Probably closer to a 4th if you compare him to Brazzel this year. Coker has been a walking injury report. Nothing else to really speak of at WR or TE. Jimmy Horn has potential, but he is not an NFL starter yet. Oline has been better as run blockers than pass blockers. Ickey has always been so-so as a pass blocking LT. Center has been a revolving door for 3 years. Damien Lewis has been as marketed. Hunt is a great run blocker but an ok pass blocker - when healthy. Moton has been solid at RT. Biggest problem with the oline has been depth. When someone went down, their replacement became a glaring weakness. Overall a good but not great unit the last 2 years. 2023 was a ish show. Nothing else to say.  Not one game breaker, take it to the house offensive weapon since DJ Moore. Hopefully we get a little of that from Brazzell.  Either way, in his 4th season, it doesn't matter. You have to be able to overcome whatever comes your way. First 3 seasons with a young supporting cast is defendable. Can't use that anymore though. 3rd year in the offense. 3rd year with the same HC.
    • Highest amount of OL salary cap in the league too. The Chiefs are behind us at 2 but we are ahead of them by a cool $23 million. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/position/offensive-line/_/year/2026/table/active/sort/cap_total
