So if R.R is retained and keeps Shula....it is possible

Going on the notion that Rivera is back for 2015. He has never shown any inclination to having a problem with Shula as his OC. He did have a problem with Chud's playcalling and did make some vague comments during his final season. He has never taken Shula to task that I know of.

I do believe that Rivera has the say over his staff and D.G may allow him that responsibilty. If RIvera plans on building up the defense and sticking with the conservative offense, then what.

There is no guarantee that the OC will be let go, regardless of what we want.

Cam should be allowed to move on and built a career if this happens. He will never succeed here under this regime if that's the case.

*this goes hand and hand with the contract discussion. Will they pay him if thats the plan they have and will he accept it.

the only thing to change your scenario would be if they were to build a defense like the Ray Lewis Raven SB defense.

I don't think the Panthers allow Cam to move on no matter what. They will try to keep him.

Going to depend how the rest of the season plays out.  If they somehow get a home playoff game and beat say Seattle/Arizona or Green Bay/Detroit....it'd be pretty hard to say "Get out of town"

But if they miss the playoffs and you go back and look at how bad they were this season, it's a no brainer he should be gone IMO.  The team was at times the worst team in the NFL this year and that is inexcusable.

If we keep them, improve the secondary get another tackle, etc. this offseason and have literally the same year as last year (dominating 12-4 record) AND we win a playoff game or two, would you still be pissed at keeping Ron/Shula? And would Cam still want to get out? I think he'd rather be winning than padding stats. As long as we get a solid to great o-line and dominant defense I think this strategy could work. Lots of money not contributing to play on the field right now, and that will change soon. I would love to have an offensive guru as HC but I'm not as pissed as many here that Rivera is likely staying. He should get one more shot next year but he must win a playoff game. As to how this relates to Cam.... I think everyone who thinks he will leave is being a diva about it. Cam is happy with the Panthers franchise despite the terrible o-line, which will absolutely change. He's not going anywhere no matter what happens.

At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.
    • Hiring Shula & his Cam save us playbook.
    • I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
