Key block of the game

No, it didn't come from either of the Olsen blocks on Cam's runs.  Neither did it come from our shiny new offensive linemen or Kalil.

It was from this guy

Rookie UDFA Philly Brown.

Okay, maybe those other guys did all have key blocks at some point in the game.  But on that game-clinching 30-yard run by Stew, a lot of credit goes to Philly, whose shown to be a bit of a Swiss Army knife.  Catching balls, opening up the offense with his speed, return man, and now opening up seams for crucial late game runs.

What a steal this guy is if he keeps improving.

i also love philly, especially when he threw mingo off kelvin while trying to help him up. those guys are forming a tight brotherhood at WR and based on their bonding with Cam, we have created a tri-force of throwing for the next decade plus.

I think you missed the other thread where someone said:

Kinda think panther fans are overhyping philly.

Showed flashes, ton of potential, but put on the breaks.

Some just don't want anyone on the Panthers to succeed this year..

Yeah, I actually did miss that one.

I don't know what else more you want out of a rookie UDFA.  He's young, he's shown flashes, he obviously has a lot of potential, he's already producing as a starter, and he just seems to have a great attitude overall and a good guy.

If he learns not to try and do too much as a return man then I think he's got potential as a pretty damn good return specialist as well.

I love Philly and made that other thread about this same play, but that was not the most key block in that game. Philly made a nice block but if you watch the play again you'll see that the LB was off balance and probably had little shot of getting to Stew. Most important thing I saw on that play is him sprinting up to Stew as he's going down, fixing his mistake of turning his back on Stew's fumble against the Bucs.

It was a nice job by him but that's not a difficult block to make. The defender never saw him coming.

Anytime a receiver makes a huge key block it's impressive in my eyes.  Especially a game-clinching one from a rookie UDFA that's 180 lbs soaking wet.

He could've just as easily whiffed it and we end up punting, then Hoyer the Destroyer ends our playoff hopes.

Anyone that thinks Philly Brown is nothing short of a diamond in the rough is blind. The guy does anything that is asked of him. He has made some great plays. Wait till next year when he walks in with a bit of confidence and knowledge of our system from day one. He was one of my favorite going into the start of preseason and has been all year.

I still believe in this life of Madden too many fans think these guys should perform perfectly all the time. I cannot wait to see us add another WR in this coming draft and our WRs become one of the best trio's in the NFL.

He catches the ball the most decisively out of any guy on the team outside of Olsen.  Cotchery has the best hands (career wise) but Philly just seems so reliable on those 7-12 yard gains.  Great type of player for the offense Shula is still trying to run haha.  Year one out of a UDFA, we've never had that production in Carolina in a while from a weapon.
