Can we be like Greenbay, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore?

WOW!!

Depends on how the long term contract with Cam and Luke are made.  Are they going to be made with lot of guarantee money but lower Cap hit.  Or are they going to be poison pill contracts like Megatron where either a serious restructure must take place or you going to have to cut the player.

Cam is going to get around 18-21 mill per year.  That's fact.  Spin it how you want, argue that he will take less, start an argument about how he doesn't do (insert some kind of stat) what Peyton, Drew, etc does.   Doesn't matter.   It's how it's going to be structured, do we use our rollover from this year plus next year dead money savings to put a huge number first year for less down the line?  Or do we go for the straight Matt Ryan escalate then de-escalate cap hit?

Greenbay has been able to pay Aaron Rodgers and Clay Mathews and still put a credible product on the field.  However down the road, we are going to have to make hard decisions on what side of the ball we are investing on.  DT position, DE position, what happens if Norman becomes a top 5 CB?  You best believe he is going to want top 5 money.   Same for Bene.  What happens to Olsen?  etc....

I don't envy G-man.  Lots of hard choices ahead and there going to be some unhappy people.

With the rookie talent we have and keeping key players for the future we will have a good run for multiple trips to playoffs.  Will we build a dynasty?  Possibly.  Once again I am concerned about the cap figures for the next couple of years.  It is going to be interesting to watch come this April.

A common misconception, Brady is just spreading out money so to make it easier for NE to pay guys he isnt really that generous...

In most cases when you hear restructure that would be true.  In Brady's case he is helping the team. This last restructure he did will benefit him in some regards but overall his contract is quite generous to the team.

Luckily for Brady he comes from a dual income household.

Drafted 8 starters in the past two years, and signed 2 more starters as UDFA's. Pretty good, I'd say.

Gettleman's strengths means he should be good at finding talent in later rounds, which so far has shown to be the case.

wow he is a genius, brings in vets that suck and at the same time makes his draft picks look good in comparison. Kinda like letting the economy fall to it's lowest level then experiencing record growth based on that lowest point.

If there is one thing I envy about Pittsburgh it's the way they draft Wide Receivers.

In 2008 they drafted Limas Sweed in the 2nd, he was a flat out bust. Since then, they did not wait for him like we did with Jarret.

2009- Mike Wallace- 3rd

2010- Emanual Sanders- 3rd, Antonio Brown 6th

2013- Markhus Wheaton-3rd

2014- Martavis Bryant- 4th

They drafted 2 other late round WRs that didn't work out.

It's not just that they hit on their picks. It's that they didn't stop drafting WRs just because they already had some. And they let guys walk for big contracts and got equal or better production from the mid round picks.

Now if you put all these WRs in a Mike Shula offense. We would probably think of them like a Brandon Lafell. Bruce Arians and Todd Haley used these guys.

This is the kind of flat earth ignorance one expects from a UNC fan.

How bout you just ignore the post season and just come back to create Hakeem Nicks Love In threads in the off season.

well when you have some real points I would love to her them. The fact that this is all you have shows you don't have much.

when you hit bottom there is only one way to go. Like Yukon Cornelius you got nuthin!

Meaning can Gettelmen be like those GM'S. Make the playoffs every year but still able to get players out of later round picks..

His last draft he got KB at 28th picked and was still able to get 4 starters and 1 contributor with later picks in each round..

Is he good enough as a talent evaluators to be a Ted Thompson Ozzie Newsome type??

I thought, you were going to ask, "could the Panther go ahead and win the Superbowl as a Wildcard"? :startle:

I'm not sure if all those team were wild cards. But I know many of them won with out having the best record leading into the playoffs (I think).

You're question about Gettlmean, may take longer to find out. However, I think he's off to a good start.
