Why does NFL media hate Cam Newton? (Bear fans take on Cam.)

Even though his stats and records say otherwise. What a bunch of butt hurt people in the media. Ok you geniuses in the media were wrong about Cam. Admit it and move along.

They rarely change their opinions.        They want so much to have been right about Cam that they fly the "Cam Sucks" flag as often as possible.

They will stick to their opinions about guys like Luck as well.     I fully believe that if Luck were to have one of the worst seasons in NFL history next season,  most of the media would twist and spin  it in such a way that Luck gets none of the blame...while everyone else around him sucks.

And to think, there are Huddlers who want Anderson to be the QB over Newton. They really don't think it is worth signing him to a new contract and will question if he is a franchise QB. WTF.

I really don't think people understand how hard it is to come by a legit starting QB in the NFL. Especailly one on the level of Cam Newton. I swear it is like people want to be the  Browns, Jets, Raiders, Bucs, Jags, Bills, Vikings, Texans, should I keep going?

Completely agree. I'll even go a bit further. People don't understand how hard it is to come by a SERVICEABLE QB. You might have a guy (cheaper) who might actually put together a decent year, but can he sustain that? Or build on it? No. That's the difference.

In Cam, we have a guy who gets it done, not "perfectly", but that's the best part. He's done what he has for 4 years without the "perfect scenario" around him and still plays with some flaws. Is there another QB in the league (history?) who's been able to accomplish so much while still having so much potential left to be even greater? Imagine that. Cam can be better. That's scary (for the rest of the NFL).

This is the beat vid ive ever watched while drunk. He is so right.

I love Cam

He forgot to mention his injuries.

If russell or luck did what Cam did after a wreck... lordy

fug the blind and wrong hype machines. fugin sheep ass bitches. Rum

He also didn't mention Bersin was the first read on the pick 6. Still a great video. My momma didn't raise no dummy and I wouldn't trade a 25 year old Cam for any other 25 year old in football history.

Honestly, I'm not so sure why it is a mystery.

1. We are the Panthers (small market team)

2. While true Cam has been lacking in weapons, this guy seems to suggest that if Luck, Manning,..etc didnt have the weapons they have, there would be a difference, Its a TEAM sport, and regardless of how talented one given player may be...people only care about the TEAM in the sense that TEAMS win games. Cam is great and has done more than can be mentioned here to help the team, but at the end of the day we arent that great as a TEAM...so I fail to see why people not familiar with our TEAM would look at our TEAM and heap roses upon Cam. In short, as great as Cam is/could be...he will only be as great (and get respect for it) based on TEAM performance. Everyone knows a stout front and a couple great receivers that can run routes well and catch the ball more times than not will make just about ANY QB look like a star. Knowing that nearly everyone here has admitted such themselves when talking about other lesser QB's...why would it be a wonder that Cam being as awesome as he is.. not being able to shine because of a lack of that supporting cast?

3. I said it earlier I think in preseason, and I got alot of crap for it (and probably will again, but thats ok) that Cam is not the star of this team. Sure, he is the QB and the one that gets most of the attention, but star in terms of performance he is not. That honor goes to 59 and honorable mention to 58..  I really hate how this guys talks about what the TEAM has done last season and this season, and uses it to justify his position about Cam, and completely forgets the fact that our success last year and for the most part this year as well as a TEAM came from the defense...not Cam. Of course Cam played a major role, but I will keep repeating this is a TEAM. To go even further, based on the last two seasons, I would say that if our defense had not played as well as it has over the last few seasons...NOONE would be talking about Cam because we wouldn't have been relevant anyway.

4. Frankly, I dont want the national media talking about how great Cam is. Why? Because Cam has a big contract signing coming up. The more "good" attention Cam gets talking about how great he is and how valuable of a player he is just ups the figure his agent will fight for come negotiation time, or what other teams may offer him (that we may not be willing/able to offer him). Let Cam get signed first...and THEN lets fight and moan about him not getting respect. The lack of respect he is getting now may very well save this team millions in cap room per season in the coming years.

In the end, I dont think the media has "hate" for Cam. I just think they don't recognize what he has, can, and will do. Cam will go on and do great things with us no doubt, but I could not care less about what the national media things (like almost everyone here who craps on what national media says/reports.

But please oh please national media...like my QB and say nice things about him!!!  BWAHAHA

There are a couple "Panther" fans in my section that yell, "An-der-son!", every time Cam has an incompletion, fumble, INT, etc. and generally talk poo about him.

It was funny though, 'cause they didn't say much when DA played in the Tampa game. Don't get me wrong, I love DA as our backup, but I want to throat punch them almost every game (and yes we argue). Luckily, it's only a few who act/feel this way, I guess.

The PSLs I am buying in 2016, the only downside is the seats are next to an old white guy who hates Cam Newton and screams for Anderson after every bad play.

Upside is I am buying the PSLs from an old white guy who also hates Cam Newton, so there will be at least one of those guys out of the stadium :D

    • Oh, the high expectations after a draft. Keep your expectations low, people. Darin Gantt's latest "Ask The Old Guy" gives life to one of those lessons about pro football reality as a fan: "Rasheed Walker was a three-year starter at left tackle for the Packers, so Freeling is going to have to work. Hunter's got another big 'un in front of him in Bobby Brown III and a different kind of defensive tackle in Tershawn Wharton. Chris Brazzell II's got a lot of traffic at his position. Zakee Wheatley has to be better than the chronically underappreciated Nick Scott, and Sam Hecht is a fifth-round rookie at the hardest position on the line to play, who probably doesn't have immediate positional flexibility, and a solid free agent addition in Luke Fortner in front of him. "Fans generally love their draft class as soon as it arrives, because there is no evidence to the contrary yet. Once guys get on the field, the reality begins to creep in, and the seasoned among you remember that if you get three or four good players out of a draft, that was an amazing draft." https://www.panthers.com/news/ask-the-old-guy-things-looking-up-after-the-draft-monroe-freeling-luke-kuechly-bryce-young-derrick-brown Don't get crazy. Winning the draft (or the offseason BTW) on paper always leads to good feelings and great expectations, especially when you seemingly succeeded the season before, but let's remember that the Panthers are very much a work in progress. Team building takes time. If we get a couple of starters out of the draft, it's a good draft, but three or four would be an amazing draft, and anything more than that is actually sensational--even if entails a few multiple high end rotational players along with three starters. Moreover, kind of within that same vein, the coaches have to let the kids off the chain. Remember the coach-speak of past coaches about competition that is anything but because coaches have their notions about veteran experience? Not saying that they're necessarily wrong, but sometimes I think their reluctance to put the young guys out there is based somewhat in dogma or possibly fear because big stakes are on the line (e.g., their jobs). It can be frustrating to say the least, but the coaches are supposed to know best. Again, I say all of this so that we can remember to temper expectations and keep them within the realm of reality. It's like telling your mind to think of it as something akin to under-promising and over-delivering. Leave room to be pleasantly surprised for the best case scenario, but be cognizant that that rarely happens. I would think at this point, most of us should be able to recognize growth when we see it, and sometimes that growth doesn't manifest itself in the form of immediate supremacy, but a setting of the stage for long term dominance for years to come. It seems like we're on track for an emergence by 2028 or 2029. We still have huge questions, but by 2029, hopefully we will take our seat at the table of the perennial contenders in the NFL.
    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
